: Jody you have "Onycholysis" which is the seperation of the nail plate from the nail bed. This can be caused by the dreaded "white fungus", and can be treated with rubbing alchol, tee-tree oil and in extreme cases, prescription medication. It is also associated with injury to the nail, psoriasis, drug reactions and contact dermatitis from using nail hardeners. Sometimes, it is related to iron deficiency anemia, syphilis (yikes!) and to an OVER- OR UNDER-ACTIVE THYROID GLAND. Hope this helps.

- Re: Fingernails blue color-this is the first time they have ever been like that and it is more at the base of the nails. I also get horizontal ridges in them once in a while. Are they possibly related? Paula 00:27:27 5/12/99 (0)
