As the lights faded on, the crowd grew restless to the torrent and tribal
drum beat of a seldom witnessed, "Oceans." This rarity really
fired me up and from 10 rows off the floor, we sang in harmony. But
the most beautiful thing was watching the flow of the crowd as if it
was one ocean itself. P.J. was really in tune and ready to rock and the
crowd was too. The setlist was exciting and evenly paced, peaking during
songs like "Hail, Hail" and "Cords," then settling down for songs like
"Sometimes." It was a special night and the band was cruisin' in the
groove, proving that they are the Pearl Jam. However, after a spitfiring
set, Ed stepped foward and jokingly said, "o.k., your place or mine," joining the crowd and band even tighter. And I think that's what it's
all about. It was a special evening winding down with the funky and
soulful "Smile" as Jeff and Stone swapped instuments. Ending with an
appropriate "Leaving Here," "which is what we're going to be doing here
in a minute, so thanks a lot." So a big THANKS to the band for putting on
solid shows... giving me a reason to come overseas from So. California!!!
