I was truly blown away by Pearl Jam's performance Saturday night at the Coliseum. They were in near perfect form (they muddled up Even Flow a little bit) as they gave a small hint for what to expect on Yield. The three new songs which they played were magnificent. My personal fav out of the new songs was Wish List. Do The Evolution is a good old fashioned rocker and Given To Fly isn't shabby either. The highlight of the show had to be Eddie's energetic performance of Hail, Hail in which he hilariously imitated a seal (perhaps a reference to the Santa Cruz show) during the bridge and started punching himself in the head and concluded the song by belching as the guitar faded out. Eddie's speech about the Promise Keepers and how Saddam Hussein and Bill Clinton should listen to Brown Sugar together was quite funny as well. Another plus to the show was the great sound quality on the Coliseum. Jeff's bass and Jack's drums sounded better than ever and the overall sound was practically CD quality. All in all, I hope this great one hour sampler was a preview for the great shows PJ is gonna put on this summer.
P.S. PJ fans in the bay area are so spoiled-we have had NINE pearl jam shows in 2 years!!!!!
PPS-the concert poster and t-shirt are both really cool
