Bradley Bernstein (BDBernstein@ucdavis.edu) The two new songs sounded great, and I can't wait for "Yield", though I wish I could have heard "Given To Fly", I guess I'll have to wait until December like everyone else. They played all the great songs, and the closing song "Black" was probably their best of the evening. My only disappointment was not getting to hear "Yellow Ledbetter", but I'm not complaining. Eddie spoke with a little humor, leading me to believe he was having fun and looking forward to touring again. The rest of the band were also enjoying themselves, Mike was running around the stage and, the few glimpses of Jeff and Stone on the big screens had them smiling. Pearl Jam was the draw of the evening and I was hoping that Jagger would say something in recognition of Pearl Jam, but nevertheless I'm sure he knows how they were able to sell out four shows in one city. Chelsea.L.Dortch-1@ou.edu Cgnoel@aol.com Before they started to play, a crew member (well, at least everyone thought it was) was on the stage pushing the water off it. The camera was showing him on the big screen. Something was up. And sure enough, there was. Eddie was indeed the guy doing the work. He pulled off his hood and grabbed his guitar and broke into "I got Id". The crowd was into it but not too many were standing up. Don't ask me how you can sit thru a Pearl Jam concert. Anyway, after "Hail, Hail" Eddie took off his wind breaker jacket and pants and gave it to the crowd. He sang the rest of the show with just a T-shirt and pants. And sing he did!!!!!! For a show in the rain, these guys did not let down their fans. They really sounded tight. Man, I'll tell you something, you can own all the bootleg concert tapes of Pearl Jam in the world but seeing and hearing them play live is a real spiritual experience. My girlfriend (who is not a big Pearl Jam fan but still a fan) had tears down her face when they closed out with "Black". I know everyone has their own interpretation of Pearl Jam's songs but for me - hearing them live, in the rain, with just me and my girl helped me to refocus my life and to continue to achieve my dreams. As far as the Stones go, I couldn't tell you about their show because we left right after Pearl Jam - come on, how can you listen to anything else after a Pearl Jam experience. It is like buying a new BMW and on the way out of the lot buying a Hyundai because it's there on the lot too. And I wasn't the only one that left, I counted at least 25 more people as I was leaving. The bad news about the show was that they were only selling two different types of Pearl Jam T-shirts for $27.00 and $34.00 and a $10.00 poster. That's it. And there were no bootleg Pearl Jam T-shirts being sold in the parking lot only Stones. Oh yeah that new song " Do the Evolution" rocks. Well that's it. The show was the bomb!!!! See you in Maui!
