Brent Dreiling, Ogden, Utah:
This was my first Pearl Jam concert and it was better than I expected. There was so much energy around and everybody couldn't help but to sing along. Eddie made comments about the Jazz loosing to the Bulls, and was trying to find out where all "NORMANS" (mormans) were, and he also menchioned that Dennis Rodman said they were a bunch of f*ckers. Eddie added additional words to the end of Hail, Hail. There was no moshing in the reserved seating ,but those of us in GA knew how to do it, Eddie then dedicated, the first ever played live, All those Yesterdays to all the people in the back. It was the best concert that I have ever been to and I bought all of the t-shirts, stickers, posters and hats I could.

Well, it was a night to remember. PJ finally got to play park West/Wolfe Mountain/The Canyons. It has gone thru so many name changes, but nothing has really changed but the surrounding bullshit that has grown. :) No really, United Concerts is suing The Canyons for breaking contracts while The Canyons was trying to but together a video file illustrating how destructive summer concerts are up there. anyway, they herded us around like cattle and every parking guy was high on his horse and it really tainted the excitement surrounding a Pearl Jam show.

Well enough of this political commentary... onto the show!

The posted set list seemed to be correct as far as I remember.

Release - I have seen PJ 5 times prior to this and I always got Long Road or go or whatever, but this was cool.

Hail Hail - Ed is learning how to dance. I remember how much the boyz can rock.

Brain of J - I remember even more how much they rock!

Last Exit - nice version. Matt Cameron fits in nicely. Temple o' The Dog again, minus Chris.

Tremor Christ- cool song live. hadn't heard it in a while.

Corduroy - yes! I love this damn song, and it got the crowd hoppin'. the energy was building.

Off He Goes - man, Ed's guitar looks expensive. is it? this was really nice. great sound outdoors at The Canyons. Mike has some nice lead parts on this, and Stone works in well too.

MFC - I am starting to be able to predict what they are going to play, and I got this one. ed grits his teeth and growls during parts of this one.

Alive - holy shit! in the middle of the set. like the olden days. the lights with this are spectacular. - before this song, Eddie said, "sorry about that basketball game" [in reference to the NBA finals game 6]. my younger brother's friend ripped off his Jazz t-shirt just as the set into alive, and threw it on stage. Ed picked it up 3/4 of the way thru the song and was laughing while singing. at the end, he held it up to the crowd and blew his nose in it and threw it down. is was kinda funny. "thank you, good night!" was another joke at this point in the show.

Given To Fly - introduced by Ed saying, "I like this one." great version.

All Those Yesterdays - I would have bet more money that the Jazz would have won the NBA finals than pj would pull out this song. he dedicated it to people up on the grass, who paid the same price as the rest of us in fan club seats.

Daughter - they always play this and forever will play this song. it is okay though, b/c I like it. talk to me little girl outro, or something like that. hard to imagine... I mean understand what Eddie says sometimes.

E-flo - was next. Mike was going nuts, banging all over during this one.

Footsteps - introduced as a song that was written "long before we were ever a band." I miss Jack, but this is kinda how it used to be for them I guess. amazing version. third time I have heard it.

I Got Shit - ooh yeah! pulled this one out of the vault too I guess. this song is so damn good I can hardly contain myself. some people, many people I guess, did not know this song. strange.

RVM - I saw this one coming. songs Ed plays guitar on seemed to get huge rises from the crowd. I like stone's part in this song. Jeff was finally getting into things the past few songs. they left after this point... 16 songs.

first encore - Evolution - I was waiting for this too. Great energy. He talked about one baby being born every 8 seconds, and during RVM, he said 64 babies were born (good math Ed, ha ha) and 60 of them were born in Salt Lake City. it was funny again. that led nicely into Evolution.

Go - I think this was added, but I dunno. great loud version.

Wishlist - they should play their single. mirror ball twirling.

Better Man - contained save it for later outro which I had not seen live. cool, cool, cool.

second encore - Leaving Here - quick song b/c that was what they were doing, as Ed frequently says while introducing the song. Jeff was jumping all over, Matt was rockin', Ed was rockin', Stone was groovin' and Mike was tearing' up his solos.

Great great show overall. could have been longer, but I loved it just the same. see you guys in Vegas, if not before or after. :)
