My fourth time seeing Pearl Jam live, and the best yet. Thanks to the Ten Club for the great seats (about 12th row). Pearl Jam was fantastic, but first I think I should vent a little of my anger first. If you're too fucked up to stand up, go sit in back. If you're six-five, stay out of the middle so normal sized people can see the stage. Just respect the people around you and the band up on stage. Why would you throw heavy and dangerous objects at the band? There has to be some sort of screening process for assholes at the gate.

But never mind all that, Pearl Jam was incredible. The whole band looked great, enthused, happy... It was a great feeling just to see how much fun they appeared to be having. Long Road is a cool opening song. Corduroy was incredible. It is probably my favorite PJ song, so I was really happy to hear it. Eddie really rocks hard on the guitar. He was jumping all over the place between verses. Dissident was kind of a surprise, but a welcome one.

Habit had an incredible jam at the end where Mike started totally rocking on his guitar. He played a sweet solo on Even Flow as well. In Hiding (my favorite on Yield) was a real treat. I wasn't sure if they'd play it, so I was pretty excited. Daughter was nice with what sounded like a Doors tag. "If man is five... if the devil is six... if god is seven," or something to that effect. It sounded so much like a Doors song that I'm almost sure it is. I'll probably end up being way off. [Pixies song.]

Before I Got Shit, Ed said something close to this: "Like John Elway we can call an audible. This one is a post route to the 35 yard line." Something like that anyway. I Got Shit sounded so good. They were all rocking on stage. It was amazing. Next was Do the Evolution which will make you move in ways you never thought possible. After the first two verses, where the song changes up Eddie squated down and let his arms hang like a monkey. It was funny as shit. Then he forgot the "admire me" part, but covered well.

After DTE, Ed stopped to mention something. The words to some of the songs were, "because of difficulties in my life with parental figures a father in particular, but apparently I'm not terribly unique, a link between some of us. But there are definitely good fathers out there." He proceeded to dedicate the song to all the good fathers for a belated Father's Day. The guys behind me yelled Better Man, but it turned out to be Alive.

When they came back out for the encore, Ed reminisced about the last time they were at Fiddler's. It was in 1991 they decided, and mentioned that Soundgarden was there. He said that it must have been great, but tonight was the one he'd remember. Before Leaving Here Ed said that we had been overcharged $.50 (already problems with Ticketmaster). He said that the band didn't think that was cool, but turned the mistake to good by donating it to the Gateway shelter for battered women in Denver. It was really cool. My friend Jake turned to me and asked how a band could be this cool. Then Eddie said this was a song related and they started into Leaving Here.

The second encore was the highlight of the evening perhaps. In the row in front of me these three of four guys had been holding up a sign requesting Patriot. Well, Ed came out with a guitar all by himself, and I knew he was going to play it. I'd never heard it before but had heard about it. "All right, these people are holding up a sign. Can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes... if you try sometimes you just might find a singer who gives a fuck." The song was great. It was a great concert. If only those people who decided to be assholes had decided not to. Well, like Eddie said: You can't always get what you want. Great show... everything... wonderful... it's 2:30 in the morning... I'm going to sleep... sorry for mistakes.

This was a really great show! However, I think if you had been a PJ fan from the beginning and through the years you probably enjoyed it more than people that just started. I say this because of the guy next to me who kept asking during anything not on 'Ten': " Excuse me, do you know the name of this song?" They played lots of new stuff, which was cool because their music has really gotten better and better with each album. Yes, I even liked 'No Code.'

Eddie didn't really talk to us at all, which was strange because he usually comes out and says a little something, but the high energy music made up for that. The crowd was a little slow to get into it, but eventually everyone was on their feet clapping and cheering. During the 1st encore Eddie came out and told us that we had all paid $ .50 too much per ticket and that they would be donating the $8,550 extra to the Gateway Center for Battered Women in Denver, which drew a good response from the crowd. They followed this announcement with Leaving Here, which no one seemed to know, but everyone was into it anyway.

I feel sorry for everyone that left before the 2nd encore, because even though the traffic may have been lighter for them, they missed an AWESOME improv solo by Eddie of the song I Am A Patriot! He sounded great and it was a very cool song! He said that he played it for a couple of people that were holding up a sign in the front asking for it. All I can say to those people is thanks for bringing that sign! Overall, a 5 star show!!!

I won't post the set list because that should be above. Had good seats (13th row, stood in the snow for tix). The first thing I noticed is that they came out early for a headliner (8:30). Also, they came out very very discreetly. There was no radio station DJ jackass making announcements...or even a "ladies & gentleman, Pearl Jam" which is what I expected.

Opening with Long Road was totally unexpected, but cool. Very rockin', well chosen set list. Eddie made a comment towards the end that they found an extra 50 cent charge on the tickets that shouldn't have been there. So he said that was all going to be donated to a shelter. $8,500. So I guess the capacity crowd was at 17,000. he then apologized again. Tickets sold out day of show, which was cool because anybody that wanted to go could have without having to pay scalpers, & yet we showed the band we could fill the arena for them.

Eddie then said I know we're mile high, but it's OK if we go a little higher isn't it? which launched us into Given To Fly.

The arena (which looks like every other outdoor concert arena in America) had huge video screens but the band didn't use them. The last encore just smoked my universe "Patriot". A super obscure song that I no longer have access to outside of jewel box five fourth generation bootleg. Very cool song. The show clocked in at almost exactly two hours from when they took the stage to the last encore.

Oh yes, and Eddie said something to the effect of "not all dads are bad... so happy fathers day, a day late" and launched into Alive. PS+++ I need the bootleg for this show if its available. I say tapers, but they were smuggling, which I didn't understand, since it's permitted. Matt did well but I still would like to see Jack.
