ctamble@hotmail.com (Craig Tamble) Before they started Corduroy, Eddied said that they dedicated this to Frank Black, a lot of people thought they were going to play Dirty Frank (which would have been great), but they tore into Corduroy. I Got Shit, all I can say is that working with Neil Young is a good thing! Pilate was really cool to hear. It was neat to see Jeff up at the mic. Daughter, one of those songs that will almost never go out of style. MFC sounds great live, I was never a huge fan of the song off of Yield, but live it is great. Lukin again almost brought the house down. Then came the mirrorball, and Wishlist, what a song. Mankind was a fun song to see and hear. Not only did Stone get a chance to show us that he is a great singer, but Eddie got to show us that he doesn't hold a grudge (just ask the guy with the sign, that fucker!). All Those Yesterdays, oops equipment failure. Eddie got the crowd into a huge frenzy by a sip of beverage and a shrug of the shoulders (who else could do that?). Black and Alive would have been the highlights of the show had it not been for the encore, but that doesn't make them any less magical. The solo's were beyond words. Mike was, well, he was Mike. It was just cool how Jeff, Eddie, and Stone just stay at the other side of the stage as the spotlight is on Mike. They left the stage, and of course returned. The kicked of the encore with Evolution, personally my favorite track on Yield, and seeing it live was a religious experience (okay only when they were in church and what a choir they have!). Given to Fly was just sweet, the flow of the song is just brilliant. They finished of the Given to Fly single by playing Leatherman. That is just a great little tune. Then the joking side of Eddie came out in Betterman. I'm not sure if he screwed up, or just wanted to make us laugh. But after the wrong verse, they started again and played it very well. Before the concert started, I heard them playing Leaving Here during the sound check, and I really hope they played it. And then they did, well not until Eddie remember how the beginning went. The slower version of My Generation was great, then came the highlight of the show for me. The transition into Porch is something that I will never forget, then they just kicked the shit out of it. It was too cool to see all the guys huddled in a group in front of Matt just jamming. They left the stage, and never came back out. I'm just real glad that I got it all on tape. And I'd like to thank the fan club for seats that just kicked ass. Plus, where did Eddie learn to dance like that? I want to know, or maybe he could just teach me. |
