WOW!!!!!! I WAS IN THE SECOND ROW!!!!!!!
Today's PJ show was by far the best day of my oh too short life, and I know I will definitely never witness another concert as amazing as this. Sorry, but my memory of a set list are quite shaky, so bear with me. The Murder City Devils opened up and they were ok, but entertaining. Then came a break...lights dim...the Color Red drum solo (pre-recorded) by our dear friend Jack...then our favorite rock-n-rollers stroll out. Ed's in a white button up shirt, Stone didn't bother to comb his hair, Mike's got a knee brace, Jeff seems to like his hat, and Matt looks muy bueno with short hair.

First came Oceans...wow, good opener. very moving. then Hail Hail...unbelievable energy. Mike was going nuts. Next was...uhh..i THINK either Spin The Black Circle or Brain of J, but I really am not sure. Following in no particular order was...MFC, Wishlist (mirror ball and all), In Hiding, Corduroy, Habit, Black, Tremor Christ, Daughter (into "Institution" by the Suicidal Tendencies), Given To Fly, Nothingman, Even Flow (Mike-WOW!!!), etc...and they ended the first set with Alive and WOW!

Encore! encore!...Ed comes out and talks about how long it's been since they've been here...8 years...7years...6 years...says that some of us have now evolved into college graduates...cheer from us faithfull St. Louisans...says that some of us have evolved into addicts...cheer from us again...says that maybe some of us evolved into both...then goes to his amp, gets a St. Louis Cardinals baseball helmet...points out how much this style of hat has evolved...how we all have evolved...etc.etc...so we all Do The Evolution, Ed in Cardinal hat and all...during this song he attempts to light a firework (unsuccessfully)...the monkey dance...

I think Better Man was in here somewhere too...Immortality too I think...that was amazing!...ended with Fuckin' Up by Neil Young.

Uh oh...Ed takes a few seconds before Fuckin' Up to acknowledge the fans. (thanks Ed) then after the song, they all depart...Ed takes his stuff with him. oh no...

We yell. we scream. We pound the seats. We sing. We cry. We clap. We chant. and we pray...

Amen! they come back out!

One more says Ed. Thanks Ed. Yellow Ledbetter. does it get any better than this? Doubt it. Mike is amazing. The emotions in the place are incredible by now. Mike jumps the gun and starts to play the outro during the break. realizing this, he laughs and goes over by Jeff who is playing AND laughing. Everybody gets a kick out of this it seems. for the outro, Mike is amazing. Wow is all I can say. And with a wave and a good nite, they depart. oh well. But what an evening!!!!!!!

Let's see...Ed wore a Cardinal hat...Ed wore a guy's shirt that he threw...Ed poured wine in about three people's hats and two cups...tossed out picks and whatnot...said hi to Brendan O'brien who was there...did the monkey dance...did a fishdive...danced alot...watched Mike go crazy...watched Stone's guitar break again...drank wine...tried to light a firework...and more, but it's late and I can't quite remember evey single detail.

Thanks especially to the fan club who gave me SECOND ROW, CENTER, TICKETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And thanks to PJ for an unforgettable evening, and for treating their fans with such class.

Wow...., while it would be nearly impossible to top the show they gave in Chicago, this came pretty close. The only complaint that I had about the St. Louis show was how low the sound system sounded out in the lawn. But anyway the show was really great. It looked like all of them where having a whole lot of fun.(especially Jeff). After the end of the first set, Eddie comes out in a Cardinals hat, and talks about how they have evolved, and he also talks about how all of us have evolved. He says six years ago we were young. He then asks for everyone who has graduated college to let him know, and a lot of people scream, and then he asks for everyone who is a drugie(not sure of the exact word he used) to let him know, a lot more people scream and Eddie says, "Obviously we have a lot of both, uh oh", and then they start playing "Do the Evolution". At the end of the first Encore, they really surprised me by playing "Fucking Up", after this it looked as though they were going to leave, but when I saw that the Roadies were not taking down the equipment, I knew they were coming back for one more. And they did, and played Yellow Ledbetter. If there was one thing that I thought was better at this show than Chicago it was the playing of Matt Cameron. While he was great in Chicago, he was amazing in St. Louis. It seemed like he had more energy(if possible) than he did in Chicago. Anyway, I am going to the Kansas City show today, and have a lot better seats than I did in St. Louis and I can only hope that the Kansas City show is everything that the St. Louis show was.
