The concert was amazing. The coolest thing I've ever seen. It was my first concert, aside from the small one my band played in. And after Frank Black put on a 40 minutes performance things started to get loud. A group of 8 guys started the wave while the "crew" was getting the bands stuff on stage. The wave went around 4 or 5times until it finnaly died down. Another before "mainn act" occurence was when a drunk guy was thrown out of the stadium for yelling obscene words. The crowd booed at the security guards, and then when the drunken fan raised his hands up, the crowd instantly roared.

When the lights went down and the band began to walk on stage the nearly full Rose Garden came to a deafening noise. The first act was corduroy, and it started with Eddie playing his guitar with the spotlight on him. The next few songs were great, as were the rest. Even Flow had great lighting effects, and they came on bright as Mike jumped to "strum" his guitar. The band was full of energy, with Mike running back and forth between him and Stone. Jeff stood near Matt a lot, and jammed with him. Matt was amazing, he was going psycho, wolvie-beserk style. He played with great intensity, and the band was very together.

By the time the first set finished, the crowd was pumped and ready for more. The band walked off the stage and the lights dimmed. The crowd got louder, fans stomped their feet on the concrete floor. It took nearly five minutes of screaming, yelling, clapping, and stomping before the band came back out. Eddie took the mic and said, "Shit, maybe we should come here more often." Then he joked about going to Seattle and then coming back to do the encore. He also said thank you to the fans in the upper deck area for being so loud. Thanks Eddie, it was appreciated all the way up there. He said they were going to try something different, and they did; with a cartoon running in the background during Do the Evolution. By this time the whole upper deck area was standing and I was screaming the lyrics to the song at the top of my lungs. Wishlist was great with the mirror ball effect. Before they played Small Town, Eddie grabbed the mic and dedicated it to the willa-mut people in the crowd. Wil-lam-mit is more correct by the way, but ohh well. Leatherman was the first non-lp track, and I was the only one I saw singing the lyrics to that song. Then Leaving Here, and Fuckin Up were also played. All in all it was a great concert, even from the upper deck seats. Thanks.

I was completely blown away by the show last night. Was really surprised by how much Eddie played guitar, as that is almost never the image we see of him in the media, much of which tries to portray PJ as "Eddie Vedder & 4 other guys". Really epitomized the quote I saw, I think it was here, (paraphrasing badly, sorry) about how Eddie's lyrics inspire them musically and their playing seems to make him want to sing.

I would also like to say how embarrassed I was when so many people in the Rose Garden booed the band after the 2nd encore. I was ashamed and disgusted, and hope they won't hold it against those of us who didn't. Not the best way to make them want to come around more often, ya know?!

A few random thoughts...Eddie and his red notebook sure peaked my curiosity--lyrics & such that can't be left unattended? People sang along with most every song, but the guys seemed genuinely tickled when every single person sang along with songs from "Ten"...they have evolved and changed so much musically, but we still really worship that one...the "Dark Side of the Moon" for many people of the current generation.

And finally, thanks to PJ for playing both "Black" and "Rearviewmirror", my two favorite songs...was hoping to hear one, judging by past set lists, but both?! Perfect!
