Christian Covarrubias (naveed_81@hotmail.com):
I went to the August 20th show in Molson Centre, Canada and I would like to leave a fanview of the show...thanx. Here I go with my bad English:

I will not tell a big story from what was the show. Me and my friends stayed without any words after it, just someone of us saying: "oh man" ...I guess is all what we felt after seeing the best concert ever in our lives. I think almost nothing can be compared with the satisfaction of hearing for a couple of hours some clean, pure and intelligent music. We made this trip from Mexico (now u see why my bad English? *l*) to see Pearl Jam, and we thank you for making us feel 100% happiness during the show. You are LA NETA (means " you rule" ). We miss you already, please come to Mexico.

This was history in the making!!! Eddie and the boys delivered a solid performance!!! Nick, Dave and I drove downtown at 5:30 to get our t-shirts for the show. It was only when we walked in the Molson Centre that we realized that Eddie, Stone, Jeff, Mike and Matt were in the same building as us... we could smell it...

Cheap Trick were loud...very loud...people in the front were really digging them...but then it happened...the Color Red started playing and everyone was hyped. As PJ got onstage, they started soft with "sometimes". We were really scared that Ed might have trouble with his voice as he did in Michigan. But we didn't have to worry...They played "corduroy", "animal", "hail hail" and "brain of j." with Ed hitting every note...Pearl Jam were on fire...they were playing with smiles on their faces and the crowd went wild for a band they had waited 5 long years to see in their hometown. "even flow" pleased everyone from older fans to newer ones..."given to fly" just floated through like waves crashing like a fist to the jaw. Jeff was tight, Stone was solid but Mike was all over the place... running around the stage, soloing, rolling over, leaping in his own craziness... "jeremy" and "daughter" reminded people that there was much more to be played... as people were chanting along to the classic Pearl Jam tunes... The crowd went nuts as Eddie started "another brick in the wall"... (Teachers leave those kids alone, Parents leave those kids alone, PRESIDENT LEAVE THOSE KIDS ALONE!!!)

Ed can't get enough of laughing at social events. "state of love and trust" was great...in the pocket... a surprising end to the show was to come..."do the evolution" was next. Thank you goodnight!!! No...it couldn't be over...a 10 minute ovation was enough to call the boys back onstage...Ed proceeded with a special request for "hard to imagine". It was the first time I had heard this song...it was sweet.

"better man/save it for later" was dedicated to Hillary Clinton. A classic erupted from Mike's guitar..."alive"...every single soul sang along to this one...Mike delivered a solo that just blew everyone away...

Matt can really play...all the songs were just so intense with his playing...Eddie thanked him at the end of the show...Ed started talking to the crowd in French... but I didn't make out what he said... Loads of gifts were tossed onto the stage...

"leaving here" and "baba o'riley" ended the 1st encore. It wasn't enough for this hungry crowd...they wanted more... Ed came back onstage riding a skateboard. "this is a 50's version of the skateboard, made in canada...jeff where's yours?" He then showed their difference in size (Jeff's being much bigger) and said "that's evolution baby!!! "Yellow Ledbetter" closed the show making it a night to remember!!! i will never forget this show!!! and i just hope that it won't be another 5 year wait til the next pj show...thanks for a perfect day...and who the fuck said that rock and roll was dead??? well, anyway he or she wasn't at the pearl jam show last night!!!

Sam (starseed@total.net):
Just got back from the show, and it really kicked ass. They played a lot of rarities tonight. Like Hard to Imagine, and Baba O'Riley, which sounded real cool with everyone singing along. 2 encores!! cause everyone was soo loud! The place was deafening. Probably cause PJ doesn't come here enough. When they came back on stage for the 2nd encore, Eddie was blocking his ears cause it was so loud.

I think they should rename the tour the Mike McCready show and his boys, cause most of the songs seemed to revolve around him, which is great, since he is so good. They really let him have his space, and for good reason. He plays with everything that he's got, which I am sure the crowd and the other members of PJ appreciated. Jeff shook Mike's hand after his Black solo, and if anyone had a hat on in the crowd, it was taken off to salute Mike's work on that song.

Other notes: Better Man was dedicated to Hillary
Wishlist: Eddie wished to be a Canadian
Other songs played (Not in order) : Began with Sometimes, Hail Hail, Even Flow, Alive, Black, Jeremy, Animal, Daughter, Present Tense, Lukin, Brain of J, Given To Fly, Wishlist, Do The Evolution, Leaving Here, finished with Yellow Ledbetter, State of Love and Trust.

And if anyone taped this show, please contact me, cause I'd love to have a copy.

For those of you going to concerts in the future, the band, but mostly Eddie, does read the signs and did take a request tonight (Hard To Imagine), but I don't know if that is common.

So all in all, a great performance, despite the lack of a pit which forced us to listen to the music and appreciate it more. Hope every concert is like this for all of you going in the future.

Jean-Marie Leblanc:
The show was awaited for a long time so the crowd was really in to it. So were the guys. Especially the Great Mike. While Animal was played, Eddie showed what would be his maximum intensity level for the night. During the Even Flow solo, Mike was playing the guitar on the floor like crazy. The mirror ball was back during Wishlist; then the crowd got to sing along to a good but simple rendition of Jeremy. A lot of lighters were shining along with the mirror ball during Wishlist. After Daughter, Ed talked to the audience for the first time. Talking about the fact that it had been a long time since they played in Montreal (93) and reading something written in French on a sheet meaning: it's been a long time. SOLAT sounded like a crowd pleaser. The band left after an energetic version of DTE. When they came back Ed said there was a request for a song. So they played one of the rarest songs. HARD TO IMAGINE was beautiful with Eddie singing it at his best. During Alive EVERYBODY IN THE ARENA was jumping around including the band. Mike was totally smokin'!!!!!!!

Then an intense version of Black was played with the Great Mike still stealing the show. Ed said they were about to leave and they of course played Leaving here. The audience looked like they didn't know the song but like the idea of Eddie as a lead guitarist!!!!!!!! During Baba O'Riley Ed reached down to a couple of fans in the front row. They ended the show with Yellow ledbetter with Mr. McCready STILL being the main focus.

Highlights: Animal, Even Flow, Wishlist, Hard To Imagine, Alive, BLACK!!!!!!!, Yellow Ledbetter. (During the solos of the three last ones, the guys were watching Mike play and looked pretty amazed)
