I attended the show last night in Pittsburgh and was very pleased. It was a night full of surprises. The first was right after I had just gone to find my seat. Grateful for the awesome tickets the Ten Club had hooked me up with, I was sitting there in awe of my nearly perfect view. It was eight o'clock and I was patiently waiting for Iggy Pop to take the stage. All the while I was growing more anxious to see Pearl Jam. Right at eight I saw someone walking out onto the stage. I new right away that it was Eddie. I should have known he was going to do something when I saw a rodie set a single Rickenbacker electric out in the center of the stage. He picked up the guitar and jokingly said something along the lines of "hi, i'm iggy pop."He then started right in to a beautiful version of "throw your arms around me". He finished, introduced the real Iggy Pop (a great performer himself) and left the stage only to return with the rest of the guys about an hour later.

The second big surprise occurred at the beginning of the encore. Eddie had picked up a shirt someone had thrown onto stage to read it. The shirt read on the front the big marker drawn word "no" and "way" on the back. Eddie read the shirt to the audience and replied,"my answer to that is no way!" He soon changed his demeanor and suggested to the rest of the band that the should attempt this "never before played live" song. They all changed guitars and burned through a performance of this Yield song as if it were instinct. This just another example of how special they made the Pittsburgh audience feel.

Another highlight of the show was Mike's awesome solo on Black. All you could do was just stand back and watch him pour his soul into every soaring note. He seemed really on the rest of the show also, resurrecting Alive with vigor, and finishing off the show perfectly with "yellow ledbetter'"

The show wasn't without its humor though. Eddie sported a toboggan for the first half of the show, and continued this theme later by wearing a tambourine on his head. I noticed that's Stone's hair seemed excessively messy, he looked like he just got out of bed, and I don't think he stopped smiling all night. Well, maybe he did during Nothingman?

The tallest guy in the whole place was seated right in front of me so I didn't see much of Jeff, and Matt was hidden behind his drum set. Oh well, they sounded great.

A night full of great memories, and I took pictures. Not that I'll ever forget. I'm still basking in the afterglow...

This was the first time I ever seen Pearl Jam and I was very impressed. The band sounds better live than they do recorded. The band hasn't played in Pittsburgh in 6 years and they made up for lost time. They played alot of songs from the first and most recent albums, which suited me fine. Any song they play is great, I only wish they would have played In Hiding, but thats alright. These guys haven't lost anything. I'm glad I finally got to see them. This was the greatest concert I've ever seen. Thanks guys.

Obviously, PJ put on a killer show on their long awaited return to Pittsburgh's Star Lake Amphitheatre. However, it was the guitar work of Mike McCready that blew me away. Eddie, Stone, Jeff, and tour drummer Mike Cameron were incomparable, one would expect nothing less. Mike McCready may be the most underrated guitar man in the industry. Eddie's voice never wavered, nor did the voice of over 25,000 crazy fans. They played every song I had hoped to hear, including Yellow Ledbetter, which was the final song of the night. It was unexpected and the crowd just absolutely went crazy. I was blown away at the number of fans who actually knew the words. Only die hard PJ fans know the words of a tour song that has never been released other than as a B-side of Jeremy.

The show began with a man walking onto stage announcing himself as Iggy Pop, the crowd barely noticed until he started singing; there was no doubt after two words that it was not Iggy, but in fact Eddie who was on stage. The masses flocked to the edge of the grass, and there was a river of people migrating from the concession area to hear Eddie belt out this cover of a Hunters & Collectors ballad. After the song ended the crowd exploded, still in shock and excitement, Eddie then introduced Iggy Pop and once again the crowd dispersed. I must admit however Iggy Pop was actually not all that bad. He/They put on a much better show than I expected.

Pearl Jam started the main part of their show with Release, which again set the crowd into a tizzy. The played for over an hour and 15 minutes, took a 3 minute break, came back out and play for almost as long, if not longer. they concluded the show with NothingMan, Black, Rockin' in the Free World, and then ended with an amazing version of Ledbetter. Absolute 5 Star show. Well worth the wait, and a steal of a show for a mere $28!!!!!
