Well, went to the Pearl Jam concert last night in the Meadowlands NJ. The show was really good, sorry to keep this short- but I don't remember the set list off the top of my head.

They opened with Oceans which was new to me, this is the 4th time I've seen them this tour and it's the first time I got to see that one done. Then after that Eddie must have been given the news about Mark McGwire hitting his 62nd home run because he told us that he just heard something in the news that we might wanna know about and that they were gonna re-enact it for us. So Eddie gives Stone a little white ball and uses the guitar as a bat, Stone pitches it to him and Eddie hits it into the crowd, then acts like he is running around bases real slow, throwing his arms in the air like he just hit a homer, and when he got to "home plate" he jumped on it just as though he just scored. After that the crowd went nuts, a lot of us even gave a standing Ovation, don't know if it was for Eddie's acting or for McGwire- I cheered for both!

Anyway, they played a lot of Vs and only 1 No Code song that I can remember, Hail Hail. It's also the first time in 6 concerts total I've been to that they didn't play Jeremy! I was kinda surprised at that. They played Black which always makes the show a great one, and the last song of the 1st encore was Porch- I love that song live! Then they came right back out and I finally got to hear Ledbetter this summer, I was getting nervous I wouldn't see it. Now I just NEED to see Footsteps and that would cover just about all the songs I REALLY wanted to hear. I have three concerts left still, NY, CT and DC-so hopefully I'll get it!

Overall the concert was really good- the band was really into it, Eddie talked to the crowd a lot, making fun of a guy in the front row who kept holding signs up, one that said "can i drum with you" so Eddie went off about how great Matt is and asks where the kid was 3 months ago when they needed him. Well that's all for now, I'm kinda tired so I can't scrape up all the songs they did, so it would be useless for me to continue! :)

Hey, just got in from the Jersey show. What a cool fucking sound those five guys make together. Red Dot song by Jack Irons starts and I know some cool shit is gonna happen. Who knows? I haven't seen them since '96 at Randall's Island. All I knew was that it was gonna rock!

They come out and everyone goes ape shit. Ed says, "good evening." like a fucking vampire or something and they're off into the Oceans song and it's smooth and nice and tight. They got some cool lights on this song, looks like waves. The lights seem almost fluorescent at times and it bugged me out. After Oceans, the band is greeted with a lot of craziness from the crowd. We were so loud, the place was pure energy. Pearl Jam sensed the energy and gave it back harder than we had.

Hail Hail began...it had such a texture to it, an electric texture and Eddie Vedder's voice was possessed. Matt Cameron kept a cool beat at the end of the song when it fades. Animal starts and people start going nutball. Mike McCready gave some cool leads on that song...snakie shit...loud stuff and it was tight. Matt is the coolest. Ed said a guy in the front kept asking if he could play drums with the band. Ed said something like, "no sorry. don't take it personally but this is matt cameron, one of the best fucking drummers in the whole world." Jeff was laughing. Jeff jumped around like he was Pete Townsend...a lot of energy all night all around. Everyone was connected and you could tell everyone was happy on both ends...really enjoyable and uplifting. Eddie, Jeff, Stone, Matt and Mike are awesome. Everyone in the band was jumping in fact. Mike gets ups. Given To Fly was next, totally perfect in every way. After that, Ed gave Jeff his pick. Then Ed said he had to let us know what just happened in the world. Jeff pitched in his pick and Ed swung his guitar like a baseball bat and everyone goes ape shit. Why? That let us know that the all-time home run record was broken as we rocked out. What a fucking night. The place fucking lost it. Then I think Corduroy... It starts a lot more intense with Matt. It makes you feel like your head is about to be smashed, in a good way.

The end part of Corduroy was the shit. Ed was totally rocking and hand banging the way he does with his head kind of down. Vedder was very animated all night and on target. Other songs I can remember...I got lost and very into it during the show so I can remember probably a lot more and some in order like Daughter, which was played early in the show. The end had Ed chanting "shala shala" at first then "hey hey it's ok" then back to "shala shala" at the end.

His voice is crazy I think. During fast hard songs, it has this awesome crazy intensity. Like during Brain of J, the lyric, "the whole world will be different soon/the whole world will be relieved, yeah." Ed bends his voice so perfectly, it makes the song get the cool electric texture. Black was all Mike at the end. Everyone applauded and cheered him. During times when the band takes a little bit more time to start playing the next song, everyone goes ape shit because they see Pearl Jam standing in front of them, you know what I mean. Ed Vedder is also a legend in a lot of people's eyes and we all bug out when we see him playing songs. Did you know that everyone I know likes Pearl Jam? I know and met a lot of people in my life and in the last 8 years, everyone I have known likes them and knows they are a great live band. There are an incredible live band.

The Small Town song was played with class and style. They played the "man" trilogy: Nothingman, Leatherman, Better Man; I thought that was cool. Nothingman sounded sad to me but in the end had a great element of hope. Leatherman is one of my favorites. I live in Westchester County and so did the "leatherman." Better Man had the whole place singing along and clapping. Immortality was really heavy and distorted; cool solo by Mike...cool jam at the end.

Pearl Jam did a lot of jamming all night, playing cool extended endings on a lot of tunes. Rearviewmirror had a very extended middle part, intense and strange sounding in a cool way, you know? Ed was doing some shit on the middle that was really quick and intense. If you watch the member's hands, you can see how into it they are; they moved very fast and intense. They seemed possessed by a force. Alive had a classic sound coming from Stone, smooth as hell and crisp and clear. By that point, I thought everyone was on a wavelength. The whole place was a wave of energy that went to the song, Alive. When it was going higher, everyone got higher.

The smell of pot was strong all night; I got a cool t-shirt: ape with a gun, I think. State of Love and Trust was played after Faithfull. Evolution was so fucking cool. Ed's voice was crazy. Porch had a demonic loud thump to it. Ed was half in the crowd with people holding him up as he sang the end of Porch. Yellow Ledbetter ended it all with some great sound all around from the band. People were dancing at the show like crazy hippies from the 60's. Really cool. People had signs up that I think said Breath, like 150 people had small ones that said Breath. Well, I'm tired, it was a great night, I'm going to the Garden on Thursday and Hartford on Sunday so see ya......
