DPJR24@aol.com: So after bussing in from PhatHatten and shufflin' in, I hear Ben playin "faded" and "the will to live" as I walked down. This is all from memory so things might be hazy......Anywho he did play one of my favorites "she looks like .....gold 2 me" and topped off the friggin' set with Jimi Hendrix's "voodoo child" with a lil "kashmir" by Zep thrown in too ...... UNBELIEVABLE soooo.... It was now time for the boyz. Five huge candles were lit and black crows were perched just above the stage watchin' over the festivities. You know the set list so I will just try to give you some xtras to help you feel like you were there. It did seem like they were telling some kinda story ... During Wishlist Ed Ved changed the last 2 lines to "i wish i was a kid in a room/i wish that kid went outside." I luv that. He also said during the middle " i wish i was as fortunate as fortunate as jersey" but I think he coulda said BBRRRRRUUCCEEE. They played the rare trilogy of tunes Nothingman, Leatherman, Better Man. Maybe they were just in a storytelling mood given that it is Springsteen's state, I dunno- it's gettin late, hehehehe. So here's the highlight of the nite cuz I think this was very funny. Some girl & guy prearranged to photocopy Breath on like a hundred signs and everyone held it up for the encores. Ed Ved said how would you like it if I went to your job & told you how to work like how to make Q-tips or something...he then paused & said "f**k you." Yeah baby, Yeah Awesome baaaabbbbeeee (a lil Austin Powers for you there). They decided to be the boxer & not the bag this nite & FOUGHT FOR THEIR MINDS (a lil Ben Harper there). Ed Ved intro'd Rearviewmirror with "i think this might have the word breath in it. 1st encore he did say this is for the kid who wants a particular song & doesn't get to hear it.... and after rearview (sorry if this all mixed up) they played my personal killer everlasting gobstopper favorite of a tune in porch. and closing of course with yellow ledbetter .....tonite they were the boxer!!!!!!!!!!!!! see you in the garden boyz & thanx for the fan club seats for thurs!!!!!!!! sweet jane!!! (last song over the loudspeakers before they went on- in fact it was all velvet underground tunes between sets) you guys rock!!!!! was that a lil van halen riffin at the end there mike?????? Now that's the way to end a show in Jersey, I tell ya. So in the words of my citeeeee FUGGGGEEEDDDDAAAABBBOOUUUTTTTTIIIIIITTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! David "the k-i-d" Pines DPJR24@aol.com (kid Griff #24- I WISH HE BROKE IT) P.S. oooooo I almost forgot another great part. They stopped the show after a few tunes to announce something coooollllllll just happened .... & with that Mike threw something at Ed & Ed Ved holdin the top part of his guitar like a bat swung to hit it. McGwire broke the record of course....... #62 & launched into Corduroy WHAT A NITE!!!!!!!!!!! :) Peter C. Eschmann (peschman@bellatlantic.net): As far as sets are concerned, you can read it when it is posted. They opened with Oceans. I really couldn't believe this one. They played every song I wanted to hear. The songs were perfect. My own personal favorite was the "trilogy" as Ed called it: Nothingman, Leatherman, and Better Man all in a row. I really don't know what else to say. Faithfull, Even Flow, Porch, etc., all great songs. As I mentioned before see the set when posted. The only low point of the show was the asshole security guards that said I could not tape the show. What did I do, when they took my tape I reached into my pocket, and put another tape in the recorder. The people around me were pretty pissed because supposedly taping is permitted. Well I wound up getting the whole show anyway so if anyone is interested, just E-mail me. That's about it! The show was amazing, and we all know who to thank for that. Betty Lou Where Are You!!! |
