Brian C. Baldwin (bbaldwin@hawaii.edu):
It's hard to imagine but the second night was even better than the first, in my
opinion at least.
Do The Evolution - what a way to start off a show
Animal -
Hail Hail -
Brain of J. -
Dissident - Eddie greets the crowd, "Hey everyone, I recognize 3 of you. and there's
the guy who kept bugging me in the ocean today. Oh well. All is forgiven."
Faithfull - Eddie says the next song is about a guy who wants to live in tree to get
away from everything, when if he wanted to get away he should move to
Hawaii.
In My Tree -
Wishlist - What a great live song.
Off He Goes - After the song Eddie says, "That song was written in your
islands. I thought I'd tell you. The islands are a great place to write
music."
Corduroy - Man, I love those breaks.
Given To Fly - Best live version I've heard so far.
Eddie: "This next song is called Ungabunga."
Even Flow -
Daughter - Man, oh man this song sounded really good tonight.
MFC - Upon hearing this song I decided it was my favorite on "Yield"... for
now anyways.
Lukin - I didn't expect this song at all. What pleasant surprise.
Immortality - Another surprise, and damn the solo was so good.
Alive -
Encore:
Eddie says, "We saw a singer here once I think it was Mel Torme, or Jerry
Lewis, who knows. but he said he liked Hawaii crowds so much he wanted
to take them with him. So I said why not move here instead? Makes more
sense, to me at least. Oh well here's what i have to say.."
i Got Id -
Better Man -
Eddie: "I don't think we've played this song in front people before,
maybe once but that's it. But we feel like it is perfect for here with
the trees and stars and..well here goes"
Around The Bend - This sounded so good. Mike played while squatting down,
solo and all.
Eddie: "Well we gotta go. See you in 4 years or so, I hope sooner."
SOLAT - This was awesome. They were laughing and having a good time the
whole song and the crowd loved it. The lyrics got changed a lot but I
didn't hear what they were changed to.

:

I have to admit that Saturday's concert was more than one could ask for.
Friday's was good, but shit, Saturday's.......
Well starting out with Do The Evolution was the way to go, it just totally
got the crowd started, and then Animal and Brain of J.... they just came
out rockin'. They really seemed to want to play that night. The whole band
was in sinc, and ready to rock, they all had smiles on their faces...
When you see how much joy they get out of playing, it just gets to you.
The version of Given to Fly was great, and Faithfull just rocked.. not to
mention Around the Bend, which Ed thought they had only played it maybe
once before... I just have to give love to all those guys, there isn't a
better place to be on any given night, than a Pearl Jam concert.. Thanks
for the two great shows, and I will see ya in Missoula!! Oh and I love
the photos, Jeff, you represent MOntana well... much love...
