Laying in bed in the wee hours of the morning in Seattle, I point the
real audio player to Triple J radio and get to hear the Pearl Jam
concert live. I can picture what it must be like and can't wait till
June 20 and July 21 to see and hear it live. Porch was pretty wild
tonight and was that a verse of Crazy Mary I heard? Isn't technology
great. It didn't even skip with the 28.8 modem.
Max Levine (flushmax@email.msn.com):
This, my second ever Pearl Jam show, was a musical energy feast. My only
wish was that the crowd could have been a little more together at times.
Not being in the pit this time around, it was somewhat disconcerting to be
surrounded by the motionless, seated or head-bobbing variety of concert
goer. None the less, I had a great time. I couldn't have asked for better
treats than the band served up tonight.
Being a native Chicagoan and Bulls
fan, I was psyched when Ed dedicated Hail Hail to Luc Longley, announcing
that the chorus would be changed to "Hail Hail the lucky ones, I refer to
those who are tall."
Basically, all of Mike's solos would have to be
considered gifts as well, even the one where Ed goofed on his Wah. They
were both smiling. The crowd did get involved when Ed told us that the show
was being broadcast live and asked us to say our hello's to the listening
audience. I really felt best during the encore when Ed asked for the house
lights and I could see everyone grooving to the most rippenest Porch I have
ever heard. It was the perfect end to Pearl Jam's stay in Melbourne.
