I owe my sister everything...

Being the youngest of two sisters, I've forcibly became influenced by my sister's taste in music. Well, last night, Marika was not at the Molson Centre, but she was there in spirit. Standing right next to me, right in front of the stage. That's right. I've been a member of the fan club for a number of years now and my dream finally came true. I had front row seats!!!!!!!. Being one of the forty-two people allowed to stand in front of stage, I sat back and let those boys do their job, and damn did they do it well.

As soon as those lights went off I could feel that this indeed would be one of the best Pearl Jam concerts that I had ever been to (this being my fourth and all). I was right. It seemed as though the guys knew exactly what we wanted to hear and they did not disappoint us at all. Even Stone's technical difficulties did not faze the crowd which roared with every movement that the band made.

Mike's astronomical solos and Eddie's almost cued leaps would not allow me to sleep when I got home afterwards. I sat awake in bed from the high.

The show was truly amazing. There was not one song, one riff, one beat missed .....the sheer perfection in itself was mind-boggling. The members of the band could see us and they transmitted an extraordinary energy while keeping eye contact and smiling at us. What else could we possibly ask for???? Well, my best-friend was personally given one of Eddie's red guitar picks from him and I thought that I would have to pick her up off the floor, but instead she smiled and the show went on.

The songs were awesome.... Leaving Here was played with an intensity as if it were a personal anthem for the whole arena. We soaked it up. Whipping, Corduroy, Grievance, Animal. Eddie laughed at himself for screwing up the words during Wishlist, and so did we. Jeff jumped while he played his crazy bassy riffs, and so we jumped. Mike played his solos and we admired his fingering and his smooth transformation to a demi-god. Once, Andy helped Stone out with his guitars there was no stopping him. His groove was our groove. Matt hit all the right beats at all the right time and we soaked it all up.

The energy in the front during State of Love and Trust was something I've never felt before in my life.

When they came back, I knew that they would play Fuckin' Up. As soon as I saw Eddie pick up his tambourine, I knew that was it. The lights turned on and that band did the most extraordinary thing I've ever seen. They made a one-on-one connection with every single person in that arena. Eddie turned to face those in back of him more than once during the concert and shouted telling them that they were indeed the luckiest people in the center because they had the best view (presumably Matt's bum area!!! hehehehehe).

I've been to over 30 concerts in my life, Pearl Jam has never let me down, but this concert will remain forged in my mind. Burned into my memory forever. Thanks guys, you made my year. I only wish that my sis could have been there to enjoy it too!!!

Sincerely,
Evie
