October 4, 2000, Molson Centre; Montreal, Canada
Leah Merchand (unhchix@mediaone.net): What an incredible experience! I'm actually speechless. How does a person describe this concert? One could start with unimaginable. As a long standing fan, I hold Pearl Jam up higher than any one I have ever encountered, and even I could never have imagined the scene Wednesday night in Montreal. There is no way to sum up this show in one cleverly crafted sentence. I don't have the words for that. The most striking moment to me was Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town, which could only be described as a religious experience. Ed stepped back from the microphone and let the crowd sing the lead vocals. It didn't matter that I was only one person in a sea of 18 000 people, I was singing to them. I was telling them that I "never dreamed you'd return." We were giving back to them. We were repaying them for the hours upon hours of extraordinary music that they've provided us with since 1991. And it felt amazing. As I left the Molson Centre that night I left with the vague knowledge that if I ever witnessed a performance like that again, I would be a very lucky person. The arena shook from the deafening applause that came straight from the heart of every person there. As I said before, what an incredible experience! Leah Merchand
Joshua Spiegel (jspiegel@peoplepc.com): "The waiting drove me mad, your finally here and I'm a mess....." Welcome to the 2nd leg. Last night's show was spectacular! The sound was superb and the boys seemed like they had a lot of pent up energy to release. Of the Girl is a great way to start and then ripping into Corduroy. I'm always anxious to hear new stuff live and Grievance and God's Dice really hit the nail on the head. Pilate was also very cool. Other highlights for me were MFC, always a favorite, Habit, State of Love and Trust, Leaving Here. Mike's solo in Evenflow lifted me to the rafters. Fuckin' up was so cool with all the lights on and everyone up and clapping and screaming. Excellent! Ed talked to us a lot and the reoccurring theme I was picking up on was that they are not sure when or IF they will make it back here. I must admit after such a great performance, I left with a bittersweet taste. What does this mean, PJ will not tour in Canada anymore? Will not be touring anymore? What? Maybe it was just me, I certainly hope so. Tell me I'm crazy but please, don't go on me..........

Jl Smith (jls306@hotmail.com):
I have read the other fanviews and just wanted to add a few thoughts... - Stone was wearing a *funky* set of plaid pants. After Corduroy, Eddie notices that Stone is having a few problems with his equipment. He nods to Ed and motions to give him just a minute to get it fixed. Ed said, "Stone's equipment seems to have opening night jitters. But his hair looks great. Between the hair and the pants, I'd f**k him." Everyone had a good laugh... - Of The Girl, Breakerfall...wow, I was stuck on those two songs for a week after Binaural came out. Betterman...everyone completely flipped... I don't think there was one person who was not singing along. Do the Evolution, Even Flow, Porch...I just completely lost all thoughts, it was so inspiring. After YellowLedbetter, Stone and Eddie just stood, smiled and stared while Mike completely slam dunked the ending. Do you know what inspiration is? It is the ability to instill hope for better things, faith that "every little thing will be alright" and a feeling of inner peace. And for two hours in the evening on October 4th, I felt all three of those things.
Thank you, Pearl Jam, you inspire me.
