Wow! Wow! Wow! I love Pearl Jam. Did I mention I love Pearl Jam? What a
fabulous show at Toronto's Air Canada Centre last night. My body and mind
are still with that show, and what a show it was. So many highlights.
Supergrass, the opening band, had finished their enjoyable, hour-long set
and I left my seat to get a drink and made sure that my friends (Trev, Tan
and Jord) guarded my awesome PJ concert T. As I was walking through the
halls, away from my seat, I suddenly heard screaming and heard the opening
sound to Baba O'Riley. I dropped my drink, ran back to my seat to see Ed,
Stone, Mike, Jeff and Matt walk up onto the stage to the delight of 20000+
jumping, ecstatic and overjoyed fans. Then the music suddenly stopped and
Pearl Jam got the concert going. Throughout the night, Ed and the boys
played such great tunes as Animal, Daughter, Dissident, Rearviewmirror,
Breakerfall, Nothing As It Seems, Grievance, Sleight of Hand, Black, Even
Flow, the rare Leatherman, Immortality and Do the Evolution. But the
biggest highlight of the night was when Ed stopped for a moment to speak to
the crowd.
Ed calmly said "Hey. Have you heard of Stephen Hawking. He's a famous
physicist ahead of his time and he just said we have 1000 years left on the
planet. 1000 years. That's not too long. Were in a world where the
corporations are having all the fun. We gotta watch out for that. Be
careful who you vote for. Let's all have good time while were on this
planet. Those are just a few thoughts. And these are just a few wishes."
And then the boys broke into Wishlist as this huge mirror ball began
spinning around, with this blue light shining off of it, making the whole
arena look like a giant swimming pool. I was in awe. I couldn't breath.
Another fantastic moment was when the crowd was treated to Stone playing
and singing the song Mankind, which is almost never done. Stone said
"All right, we almost never do this but a, we'll do it tonight." Just great.
And during Betterman, the entire arena was jumping up and down, clapping
and singing.
I was a little upset that I hadn't taken advantage of the superb tickets
offered by the Ten Club, but on this night, it didn't matter where you sat.
And to top off the evening, near the end of the show, the lights came on
and the band finally did a blistering rendition of Baba O'Riley. What a night
Having seen PJ twice before, this was by far the best concert by them or
by anybody that I have seen in my life. Did I mention I love Pearl Jam.
Toronto loves you guys. Take care.

Well, all I've got to say is a huge THANK YOU!!! Pearl Jam was absolutely amazing tonight. Every song they played absolutely clicked. I'm not going to go into a setlist or anything, because frankly.. it's 2 am and I haven't the energy for it! :o)
Highlights for me we're definitely Corduroy, Wishlist, and Baba.... Black was great too. Opened with Sometimes which I thought was rather neat... it's the first time I saw them not open with Release and end with Ledbetter... This time it was Sometimes and Indifference.
Supergrass was also very very good. Just as I knew they would be... good job fella's.
So here's a big THANK YOU to Jeff, Matt, Ed, Stone, and Mike (who was really really amazing tonight, solidifying his place in my heart as the greatest twanger of all time).... tonight was an amazingly special and very important night in my life... and you guys did a hell of a job... THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN....
:o)
