October 17th, 2000..the nite I lost my PJ virginity. All day people have been asking me how the show was, and all day I've been struggling to find words. I think the most appropriate would have to be "surreal." 'Sometimes' was so peaceful and it took me a few moments to actually realize I had actually made it. At first I had been kinda worried that we wouldn't be a good audience, then by the time we got to "I pledge my grievance to the flag" I couldn't help but notice the people around me, all singing as wholeheartedly as I was. They were playing at an amphitheatre in Fair Park in Dallas. The State Fair is currently going on so there was a huge Ferris wheel set up behind the back fence of the lawn area, and Ed was quite interested in it, dedicating I believe it was Given To Fly to its passengers. (I could be wrong about the particular song). Ed was very chatty, from talking about the Ferris wheel to commenting that "Bush sucks" (which got a nice cheer, might I add), and also telling the story of 'Jeremy.' He teased us a little saying he thought it took place in Richland (which is also very near Dallas) and some people near the front corrected him, to which he responded "Oh oh, Richardson, that's it."

When reading the Rollingstone review of the Euro boots, I remember reading that the quintessential question is "How was the Evenflow?" The Evenflow was incredible, Mike absolutely tore it up. a couple songs down the road, and I hear the opening notes of 'I Got Shit.' I went nuts.... uncontrollably nuts. It was performed sooo beautifully last nite, living up to, and beyond, all of my expectations. The majority of the show's remainder was very high-energy, especially 'Brain of J ("This song was written..on a grassy knoll") and DTE. Sadly, the end was approaching, and Mike starts playing the opening notes of Baba O'Riley...even the people around me who hadn't "WHOO'd" all nite were jumping up and down and screaming. When Eddie let us take over at "don't cry" it was truly incredible. I have always marveled at how beautiful Ed's voice is, but live...it's just a whole new world. He has this gift...some might call it a charisma...when he sings, you really feel like he's singing to YOU personally. I was just blown away by it. Since I've come home, every time I close my eyes, I see the guys and try to relive the show. This show honestly was amazing. I would give anything in this world to go back and do it all again. ~allison~

First, I must join all the other Ten Club members in thanking PJ and their Ten Club staff for the outstanding seats. Having caught the 2nd Houston show from the lawn at the Woodlands venue, I was extremely hyped to see the band from much closer up. I was totally blown away by the location of my fan club seats. Center section, 14 or so rows from the stage. Excellent.

The concert was flawless. All of the members seemed pumped and really performed a tight show. Eddie made numerous remarks throughout with the funniest being his comment about the Ferris wheel that could be seen over the back wall of the lawn (the state fair of Texas was/is ongoing and the Smirnoff is on the grounds). He made the comment that the next song is for the people riding the Ferris wheel and for the carny who forgot to tighten all of the nuts and bolts. Then they launched into 'Given To Fly.'

They played several extended jams with a particularly good 'Rearviewmirror' one of the highlights of the night. All of the acoustical stuff rocked, and 'Betterman' was simply awesome. Ed made some comments before the song about his hatred for wife-beaters a view I'm sure most people share. The kicker for this show was their cover of 'Baba O'Riley' which was the final song of the evening. The crowd really got into it, and it was a great way to end what I can only call the greatest musical experience of my life. Can't wait for the live cd. Join Ten Club and take advantage of the band's generosity for it's fans.
