Brienne Green (no_authority_chick@hotmail.com): I just want to say that the Pearl Jam concert in Lubbock last night was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I'm not gonna get into how much I personally loved it, because I'm sure everybody knows how that feels. I just want to try to give everybody a little feel for what went on. I've heard and seen it written on several webpages that Jeff has been sort of listless and disinterested at some of the concerts - he was definitely not last night. From the opening chord of the first song, he was leaping around like crazy. At first it looked like Mike might just stand there, but during Dissident, he started spinning around while he was playing and from then on he pretty much didn't keep still either - during one guitar solo, he flew around the stage like a maniac. A couple of cowboys hats were thrown up on stage, and Stone wore one for a while, Eddie put one on for a few seconds, but for the last encore, Stone put Eddie's on and was in the middle of the stage doing a little dance, shimmying his hips all around. The band really looked like they were having a lot of fun together...when one wasn't acting silly, he was laughing at the ones that were - it was just a really great atmosphere, it was great to see the band having such a good time, it was like they were at a party - everybody was loose and goofing around. Eddie and Mike climbed over the speakers and stood on the little ledge in front of the stage to interact with some fans, and Eddie even brought a girl up on stage with him during the last song, Yellow Ledbetter. He had the guards set her up on stage and he danced with her for a minute, which was hilarious, he had her twirling him and everything. Then he had his arm around her shoulders while he sang, then he even took the microphone off the stand and got on his knees and sang to her. For Mike's solo, he sat her down on a speaker at the front of the stage with him and held his Polaroid camera out and took pictures of the both of them to give to her, and then they watched the solo and he gave her some of the set lists and things and his empty wine bottle and then it was over. It was an amazing feeling, it was like everybody there including the band were old friends. It was the highlight of my life, and I'll never forget it. |
