June 3, 2000; S.E.C.C. Glasgow, Scotland
Ewan Lindsay (ewanlindsay@aberdeenhome52.freeserve.co.uk): This was my first (and long awaited) Pearl Jam concert and I can only describe it as a Religous experience! The Band were superb as was the sound quality which was crystal clear. I could hardly believe that I was actually seeing them live after so many years of listening to albums. Eddie seemed to be thoroughly enjoying himself and his voice is unbelievable. He nailed every note all night long. I agree with one of the other Fanviews that Stone seemed a bit down and even disinterested at some points but his playing didn't seem to be affected. It is an experience I will never forget and I pray that it isn't another 8 years before Pearl Jam come to Scotland again. I've noticed that the other Fanviews keep quoting Eddie referring to a singer called Mike Scott after the band played "Once" and questioning who Mike Scott is. At the risk of being an "anorak" (as we say in the U.K. The U.S translation would be Geek!), Eddie actually said Bon Scott. Bon Scott was the late, great Australian lead singer of AC/DC and king of the lyrical innuendo! I think Eddie thought Bon Scott was from Glasgow when in actual fact it is the AC/DC guitarists (Angus & Malcolm Young) who were originally born in Glasgow but emmigrated to Australia when they were still kids. Bon Scott was born in Kirriemuir in Scotland and his family also emmigrated to Scotland when he was 5. He died in 1980 after a particularly heavy night out in London. I believe his last perfromance with AC/DC was in Glasgow a few days before. Thanks to the band for an amazing night. |
