Tickets for the first show in Katowice were sold out as quickly as in four days. Due to some problems in organizing show in Budapest (Hungary) the band decided to play second show in Katowice, Poland on the following night. This happened only in London, during this tour. And this is how the first night in Katowice looked like from our perspective.

setlist: long road, breakerfall, corduroy, animal, brain of j., nothing as it seems, given to fly, gods' dice, present tense, mfc, not for you, better man, grievance, thin air, even flow, ? into even flow, nothingman, insignificance, rearviewmirror; encore: do the evolution, go, rival, footsteps, wishlist, small town, last kiss, alive, rocking in the free world.

Shaped like UFO Spodek (venue) was filled up to the roof. Some of the folks were still outside when the support band kicked off. By the way: gate staff - GET A LIFE!!

After few seconds of The Who's Baba O'Riley Pearl Jam appeared on stage and launched with very smooth Long Road. The audience went mad and sang along with Eddie. The band carried on with Binaural's opening Breakerfall and good old Corduroy. "I want to say something to local friends here" - Ed said pointing his finger to the crowd surfing crew - "Be careful and keep fooling." Then they moved on to rocking Animal and Brain of J. soon after.

"It's been years since we've been here before. In that time we put out couple of records. This one is from our latest" - this way Eddie introduced Nothing As it Seems. The crowd couldn't appreciate it more. Almost 9 thousand people helped him along in singing and carried out during Given To Fly, while Matt was at his tremendous best.

Then we heard Gods' Dice and the best possible version of Present Tense which Ed started with Mike and the rest of the band smoothly joined. Then MFC with lyrics changed to "There's lot be said for here," then hard rendition of Not For You and easy going Better Man which our throats screamed out real loud. Grievance, Thin Air of Binaural were followed by Even Flow. The first song from Ten after an hour of the show. The band started rocking for good. Eddie dancing and twisting on his mic stand and Mike running in circles and jumping on whatever he could reach. After real hitting and heating tunes of Even Flow the guys applied Nothingman and pretty Insignificance with suspended ending. Then very fast Rearviewmirror and they said "Thanks" and disappeared behind the stage. Not later than five minutes of storming applause they were back with something we couldn't even dream of.

Eddie with the monkey mask on introduced Do The Evolution, and went totally mad. He took his disguise off and put in on the mic stand and addressed the rest of the lyrics to virtual ape. Then it was Mike's head on which the mask landed. Go, Rival and then it happened! For the first time in Poland, Pearl Jam performed Footsteps garnished with Ed's harmonica which after the song were presented to some lucky fan.

After that we were stunned by heart warming Wishlist after which Eddie took longer break to once more talk to us "We met lots of people who came here from different places, small towns and remote villages. We drove for a while today and we are pretty long way from home, but it still felt good. We met one girl who introduced herself as Magda, the another one who also introduced herself as Magda, then third and fourth. We met four Magdas total, and we want to dedicate this song to Magdas" and the band sailed off with Small Town. Best possible introduction, isn't it?

Pearl Jam was having so much fun with Mike running around the stage trying to get Stone involved too [ no effect :( ] that Eddie asked if we wanted to hear regular songs or if they should play Last Kiss for example. The applause he got for that question conviced him that playing this song would be the best of ideas. So they did. You wish you could here rhythmical clapping we performed!

Alive was the second and the last song from Ten we were given to hear last night. But what a finish we got instead! After starting Rocking In The Free World on his tambourine guys behavior on stage was simply undescribable. Ed was just himself, dancing and shaking the mic stand wrapped with Polish national flag, reflecting lights with his mirror and last but the most exciting: Mike smashing his guitar against the stage! Then few photos of fans that will go to band's album and that was it.

We want to give words of highest appreciation to everyone who shared this night with us and to the band for all they gave us. It was good to have them back again, and you will hear from us tomorrow and from Berlin, too.
