Christy (chris1972x@netzero.net): First off I want to say thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I had wonderful seats. I sat second row, center in the seats that wasn't orchestra. Still Beautiful. The show was fantastic! I shall be enslaved to the Ten Club Gods for ever. Sonic Youth was very interesting, but I don't think that the crowd was into it, maybe the weather (very rainy) or unfamiliarity. When Pearl Jam took the stage it was like 30,000 people just stopped and we were all on the same page so to speak. No matter what else was going on, it didn't matter we were there to sing and dace and love the band that is Pearl Jam. Highlights for me? Ed dancing around almost flamenco style during one of the songs, and Daughter/It's okay when he asked the crowd to sing back to him, It's Okay. It must be very cleansing after what happened in Europe to have 30,000 people sing It's okay, you don't have to run away to you. All in all we saw a happy Ed drinking red wine and dancing around. Matt Cameron is an excellent addition to the band and a great drummer. Ed forgot the words to Even Flow and Elderly Woman. When I saw them in 98 in Philly/Camden he messed up Even Flow and looked truly pissed, this time he just shrugged his shoulders and went into the second verse. I forget what line he messed up in Elderly Woman, but I think that he just got his tongue tied. Again he just laughed it off. Stone seemed to be enjoying himself and Mike was great. Everybody seemed to be right on. The first encore was great, with Ed saying "It ain't over yet" and then launching into Do the Evolution. I was happy to hear Sleight of Hand live. Go is one of my favorites and they just ripped it up. I'm missing my voice this morning because of it :-) I had been looking forward to Soon Forget all evening and I was afraid that Ed wouldn't do it, but the second encore here comes Ed and his Ukulele. The only problem is that we were all so enthusiastic by now that he kept telling us to be quiet. It was cool. Fans up front gave him stuff and he thanked one of the girls who gave him a scrapbook personally. Someone gave him a jersey with his name on the back and he said "hey, that's me/my name." What a great show! Great evening. Thank you Pearl Jam!! Thank you Ten Club.
Dana Bordvick & Mark Poleski (dbordvick@hotmail.com): Perfect, no other word can describe this night of music. This was our first Pearl Jam concert (can you believe it?). It was an (almost) unbelievable thrill to watch Ed sing and the band play after so many years of only listening and imagining. Needless to say, I am hooked. Such heartfelt emotion and good, harmonious vibes are welcomed feelings in these times. Every song was amazing, heightened by the inevitable rush of a live performance. It was also a pleasure to be among the audience, who seemed to soak up all that goodness, energy, and emotion only to spill it back out for Pearl Jam. It was an honor to be asked to sing with Ed - a wonderful human being. Truly, this was a perfect, and perhaps above all, inspirational evening. Thank you, one and all! |
