Nik Pietraszewski (nik@oz.net): Well, it's the morning after.... what a night it was. My friend and I sat up very close to the stage, right in-between Ed and Mike... a perfect place to be... Thank you fan club! I agree with all that has been posted so far about the concert, but wanted to add a few more cool tidbits of info on the night, and oh what a night it was.... The band was totally on, and Eddie and Mike were definitely the most friendly with the crowd tonight, smiling and pointing throughout. During almost the entire concert, a huge, pretty yellow butterfly flew all around the stage, and all the band members took notice of it at one time or another, with Ed even giving a slight gesture and a smile to it at one point during the middle of a song. Mike has a ton of cool glow-in-the-dark stars and little planets on his "flying-V" guitar that could be seen well when the lights went off. Ed humorously struck a pose during the "admire-my- clothes..." line in the middle of Do the Evolution. At the end of Porch, Ed took the mic off the mic stand and then knocked the stand over... He then proceeded to swing the microphone around and around with the cord in a huge circle, finally catching it right in synch with a final drum beat from Matt. Also, during the middle of the show, Ed held up a big brown square book with the title, "Memory of a girl" on the cover of it in bold letters, and he commented that a very friendly girl had made the book for him and given it to him that night. He also thanked her briefly once again after the 1st encore... it was unclear what exactly the book contained, but it was clear that Eddie thought it was pretty cool. Ed passed his bottle of wine to Matt during the encore for a much need drink... Matt was tearing it up on the drums, as he always does. During the encore, Eddie whipped out his Polaroid Camera and took 4 pictures of the crowd, one of each section. Also, towards the beginning of Elderly Woman, Ed briefly messed up on the lyrics, and paused for a while in smile and a chuckle as the band kept playing, and he then picked it back up close to "hearts and thoughts they fade........" It was a nice recovery by Ed. :-) At the end of "Soon Forget", Ed held up his ukulele, and all of us in the crowd cheered loudly for it as he pointed at it... he seems very attached to his ukulele, and I think he looks very good with it. : ) It was a wonderful evening...... and one that I will never forget.... Thank you Pearl Jam, thank you Ten Club!
Brian (ITSPEARLJAM@aol.com): Hi, I loved the show, I told some people that they would probably open with "Long Road" as they did. I must say that "Rearviewmirror" seemed to be the most energetic song of the night along with "Better Man." It was great to hear "Thin Air" and "Sleight of Hand," I really didn't expect them to play either of those songs live. I loved it during "Insignificance" when they killed the lights in the middle of the song and I thought it was rather funny how Eddie forgot the words in "Elderly Women Behind The Counter In a Small Town," that just shows he can make mistakes too, but it was good that he laughed about it. Well, all in all it was the best musical experience of my life. THANK YOU PEARL JAM !!!
Ryan Gordon (pjinmaui@prodigy.net): Wow!! Eddie and the boys just continue to amaze me, this show was top notch, I would say the second best I've seen of our Seattle five (Charlotte '96 was the best I've seen ever ), the crowd was into it well and though the band seemed a little worried about fan safety they seemed to gain their confidence back by the end of the show. Now let's talk about the songs; I'm going to go kinda backwards here, the final cut, Yellow Ledbetter, let's just say Mikes's closing solo took this rare classic to new height, making the hair on your neck stand straight up, thank god I had the minidisc recorder running for that one, Soon Forget is just the opposite, every time I listen to it, it gets better, Eddie must learn a new instrument each year, Sleight of Hand was better than the album cut. but the performance midstream that pulled us all together was the "Its OK "bit after Daughter. MAN, this was a magic moment for the Jam...Eddie kept saying thank you to the crowd, he really should be saying you're welcome; we owe him and the rest of the band for giving us these performances that will last our whole lives, so to that I say, Thank you Pearl Jam!! See you guys in Charlotte tomorrow night!!! Oh and if you read this, could you play Immortality and/or State of Love and Trust or maybe even Rats.......LONG LIVE PEARL JAM..........and if you're a fan and don't have tickets or think you can't go, you owe to yourself to go. I saw plenty of people selling tickets, you will regret it eternally......ryan
WSNJS@aol.com: The show was totally awesome!!!! Eddie and the guys did a great job. Definitely the best show I've ever seen!! He sung all the great songs (elderly woman, black, thin air, porch, animal) with all the crowd singing right along with him. Singing "It's Okay" was a very special moment that moved me to tears. Pearl Jam put on a great show full of the energy and excitement we all expected from them. I hope that all you will be able to get a ticket to see this great band live!! It was truly an experience. |
