Elsa Ayala (elsa108@mindspring.com): It's definitely OK. They looked so OK, that I and so many of us, felt much uplifted by the strength Pearl Jam as a group showed last night. I keep trying to imagine what that must it have took on their part to carry on since things have changed as we all know. But I cannot imagine it. There was something immensely endearing happening, though. If you were there you had to have felt it, what a strong loving, compassionate connection our band was making with the fans and the crowd in general last night. Not to mention how the fans were being carefully looked after by the security staff, especially in our fan club orchestra pit seats. I felt as though I was a special guest of Pearl Jam and their crew and management last night. A big howl of applause and bravos to all of you, Pearl Jam family of professionals who made that first show of the US tour an absolute success. The show was intimate even with so many fans present. Intimate in that it seemed so very evident that the fans were being both loved and entertained by Pearl Jam. Ed called the band and the crew his family and I felt he also was including us. He shared some personal feelings about the trauma he experienced with us. That couldn't have been easy. Thank you Ed. We love you more for it. The theme was not only to play the most ass kicking set list with so many selections from Binaural, my favorite being 'Sleight of Hand,' but to really take care of the audience. The most genuine, sincere feeling of concern was being projected by Ed, Jeff, Mike, Stone and Matt. The pace seemed to flow in a way to keep things on a healthy but satisfying tempo. We all have witnessed the purity of Pearl Jam, not only in their music last night but in the way they give a damn about us, the fans. I might even vote for Ralph Nader now, if it will even begin to make Eddie, Jeff, Stone, Mike and Matt feel as great a sense of satisfaction and appreciation as I do now as their fan. Pearl Jam IS ONE of the most compassionate bands to emerge from the realm of both corporate and non corporate arses...who make up the music industry and all industries:) Anyhow, the sea of Pearl Jam fans was rich last night with so many wonderful lives who share a love for Pearl Jam. It was so nice to meet Shirley and Tim of Ten Club. Missed a chance to say 'Hi,' to Karrie. Loved meeting up with Sam and his friends Sandy and Amy. And of course the Pearl Jam DJ of them all, Dangerboy and his buddy David. Just a few gems in the sea of diamond fans of Pearl Jam's Ocean of BLISS. |
