First, I must say, Thank You, PJ, for a night To remember forever.
It was clear skies, and the Moon was glowing right in front of the band.
It was also very warm, and Eddie was soaking wet in sweat, he wore
his brown corduroy jacket at first, but quickly shed it.
They opened with Sometimes, and it sounded great. Breakerfall was
next and was very powerful... "and she's standing out side hating everyone
here." Eddie screamed out. Another favorite of mine, Corduroy was
next, Mike was going crazy, he was great all night, and Stone had
a great solo. Hail Hail was next, and then Animal, which were both
crowd pleasers, Some cool blues lights shot down to the stage, for
the intro to NAIS, in which Eddie sung wonderfully. Light Years was
next, and definitely sounds better LIVE. This next song was played
with so much enthusiasm, (Given To Fly) I started getting cold chills.
I can't say enough about how good Mike and Stone were playing, they were
really performing well.
Untitled, MFC, and Habit were the next three
songs, leading up to the Best Performed version of EVEN FLOW I have
ever heard. They really jammed in this one, I have heard this song a lot
and this was definitely the best it has ever sounded. I was about to bust
with adrenaline after this song stopped. Wishlist started with Ed forgetting
the first and second verse, stopping, then starting again, and at the end
Eddie sang, "North Carolina" over and over. Better Man
was next, followed by a powerful Grievance. I was very surprised to hear
the next song, Present Tense, EV said they rarely played this song, and
he is right, it was wonderful. The whole band just seemed to be full
of energy. Ed got a little emotional during Black, and the crowd picked
up the "do do do do do do" part. Insignificance was next, and is one of
my favorites, "Bombs crashing down...." it was electric.
After Rearviewmirror
the band took a small break and when Ed returned for the first encore,
the crowd was jumping up and down, and Ed joined in with up, doing a
little jumping of his own. I don't know what else to say about the first encore
but, whew, I need oxygen. They started with Go and Mike was playing behind his head, and Ed was dancing like crazy. Next was Do The Evolution,
a personal great, Once, which I was glad to have been able to hear, I have not heard this one live yet, "I have now." They then played an unknown cover, in which in one
part Ed sings "23 minutes too long."
The next song Ed introduced by, "we keep Neil Young young, and Neil Young
keeps us wise" playing I Got Shit. Another song I was yet to have heard
live is, Last Kiss. It was beautiful. Porch was next, and definitely had the
crowd jumping, at the end of the song Ed was swinging the mic around,
reminiscent of Daltrey. The last song was Yellow Ledbetter, which was
ended with a great Mike solo, and Ed finished the night by saying,
"Y'all watch the Moon on the way home."
It was indeed a very exciting night, and tomorrow night I'll be in
Greensboro with Ten Club tickets, so I'll have a better Fanview from
that show. I was back in the 4th section for this show, and didn't have
the greatest of views, still though, it was a night to remember.
PJ fan forever,
