What a great show! I was a little discouraged to fight through the traffic on my way to Blockbuster Pavilion, but was very pleased to get my fan club tickets very easily. After finding my way to the 11th row seats with my girlfriend, I couldn't have been more excited. Sonic Youth came and went, and the lights finally dimmed for Pearl Jam. As the concert started with Sometimes, the crowd fell into a hush as Eddie hypnotized the crowd. Breakerfall then rocked the house as the energy soared. Some of their great songs followed, like Corduroy, Hail, Hail, and Animal, all of which only heightened the intensity.

Newer songs followed, such as Nothing As It Seems and Light Years, both of which sounded better than I could've imagined. My personal favorite off of the new album, Grievance, showed why Pearl Jam is famous for their great performances in their live shows. A couple of surprises were pulled out of the bag with Present Tense, Habit, and Once, but I Got Shit might have been the best surprise and definitely left little to be desired. What a great way to end the concert with a run of Evolution, Once, a new song, Shit, Last Kiss, Porch, and finally the always crowd pleasing Ledbetter. It sent chills through my spine to watch as Eddie, Stone, Matt, and Jeff looked on as Mike did his thing. Even though I would've loved to hear Eddie do Soon Forget, I only had to think of the other great songs that I heard (like Given to Fly...talk about rockin') and be thankful to have been at such a great show. It doesn't matter where your seats might be, if you ever have a chance to see Pearl Jam, go. (Thanks Ten Club) I can't wait to see them in Pittsburgh....

The start of our Charlette experience began at 2:00 AM on the drive from VA Beach. This is when a red/silver bus came flying from behind. One of the windows was open and we could see fancy lights and South Park inside. We were certain that it was PJ. Hopefully someone can confirm this. We followed the bus for about 2 hours, but then we had to get gas.

Wondering how PJ could top last night's show, we speculated on the setlist, and were happily suprised to hear a great version of "Sometimes." The variety was amazing with around ten different songs from the night before. The band was very outgoing during the whole show. At the end of Wishlist, Eddie sang, "North Carolina, North Carolina" before ending with the final chorus. At the moment Eddie mentioned the name Neil Young, and we knew that "I Got Shit" was coming up. It was an absolutely amazing version. During "Porch," Mike stunned us all by playing a portion with his guitar behind his head. For the second night as everyone was walking out, an instrumental version of "Baba O'Riley" from a tape was played. I can't wait until PJ plays it. Hopefully we will see the magic bus after the five or more remaining shows on our tour.
