Teresa Graham (tgraham@citlink.net): There is only one thing that I have to say about Pearl Jam: they're AWESOME!! I had the pleasure of seeing them live in concert, in the flesh. This was my first concert and it was a night that I will never forget for the rest of my life. I have loved and been a fan of Pearl Jam for 9 years now and was overcome with happiness at the show. No other band could top them in concert, in my opinion. I went into the Pavilion not knowing what to expect and came out amazed and shocked at what I had been missing all these years. During the whole show, I was in awe at the whole experience. I thought they would play mostly new songs from their new album and was shocked to hear "Once," "Even Flow," "Black," "Porch," and "Corduroy." I was so happy that they played their older stuff since I missed seeing them perform them live the first time around. Anyone who was at this concert couldn't have missed Eddie being in a particularly good mood. I saw him smile several times and he even danced a little! Very rare for Eddie. I felt so honored and lucky to be in the presence of this awesome band and I will definitely cherish them and their music for the rest of my life. To Eddie, Stone, Jeff, Mike and Matt....you're awesome and I love you!!
Bert Wilson (bert_wilson@mepla-usa.com): Just wanted to thank Pearl Jam for one of the coolest shows I have ever seen in a long time. It is nice to see a band that has been around for so long, still be able to rock and move fans. There are so many bands out there that put out 2-3 albums and then fade away, but not in this case. Pearl Jam has survived the test of time, by still making great new music. I know some think they have faded away due to a decrease in album sales but this is not really the case. The actual sales may have changed, but this is not due to Pearl Jam lack of creativity, but just the fact the base of music fans changes rapidly all the time. This night was very cool, because of the way it was sold out (sooooo many people on the lawn seating), the beautiful moon shining and how the crowd seemed to be mesmerized by the music. Obviously the set list does not need to be described here except by what I think the highlights of the evening were. The rendition of "wish list" was unbelievable. Matte Cameron's drums easily change Pearl Jam's music since his style and ability far outmatch the weak style Jack Irons had. The versions of "Porch," "Black," "Grievance," "Insignificance" were very powerful and had the crowd going crazy. I thought the most emotional night of the event was when the played "Yellow ledbetter" for the final song. Seeing Eddie Vedder sing that song with a smile on his face and the fact the song is soooooo good gave me goosebumps and chills. Seeing sooo many people there at the show with Pearl Jam rocking was one of the best concerts I have ever seen in my life. There is no way I will ever miss one of their shows as long as they come around the Triad area in North Carolina.
Deanna (dealar@vnet.net): I want to do it AGAIN! What an amazing night, first of all thanks to the band for the likes of the Ten Club and thanks to the Ten Club for all your hard work and the tickets. I expected good seats, but when I picked up my tickets and they read row ONE I went insane! Upon getting to my seats I kept waiting for someone to tell me there was a mistake and I'd have to move! No can do, most incredible night I've ever had! We were right in front of Mike, how animated he is, played with the crowd and just plain awesome! Some of it is still a blur, I was so excited but highlights were the opener "Sometimes," vocals were just moving! Grievance, Once, Present Tense, Rearviewmirror was a real treat, and Do the Evolution priceless! My face still hurts from smiling so much and my neck is sore from the dancing. My friend had to keep elbowing me to look 'cause I just kept closing my eyes and getting into it! I'd open them, and there they would be, the best band on a truly unforgettable night!! |
