August 7, 2000, Phillips Arena; Atlanta, GA
Mike & Pattie (hatnham@bigplanet.com): Let me first say thanks to the Ten Club for the 7th row center seats!!! I've seen the boys once each tour since '94 but this was the first time I've seen them out of the New York area. I was lucky enough to have been at the Randall Stadium marathon show in '96 and knew they liked playing in Atlanta but had no idea the treat they had in store for us. My friend had never seen Pearl Jam before so I was trying to describe how they are in concert, how well they mix the sound and how great the songs sound live. I was also mentioning how Eddie generally just hangs by the mike and sings his ass off but doesn't move around much. So when we were walking to our killer seats the stage was set. Walking passed the soundboard I was able to sneak a peak at the set list and saw they were going to open with Release which I've never seen before. When the lights went out and the first notes of Release started to stream out the crowd went wild. The first thing I noticed is how much more guitar Eddie is playing and that he's getting pretty good. His intro to Betterman was beautiful. He also was very energetic and really into playing in Atlanta. He was funny breaking strings, headbutting his microphone and beating the shit out of his tambourine. The band sounded great and the new songs were quite good. The nuggets they pulled out for this show made it very special. The "rare trilogy" as Eddie called it of Betterman, Nothingman, and Leatherman was cool. Crazy Mary, Porch, Once, and In Hiding, were nice treats even if Eddie forgot some of the words. Fucking Up was a tour de force of power. When Mike played the last lead in Yellow Ledbetter you could see the guys were exhausted as they stood off on the side of the stage with huge smiles on their faces. They knew how good they were and how much they were appreciated. Thanks guys...see you at Jones Beach!!

Hi fellow Jammers, Ok first of all when they started with Release I knew my 5 1/2 hr drive from Greensboro was already worth it, and as my friends and I drove to Atlanta I told them I had but one song that would make this tour complete for me...that song...Immortality, thanx guys.......I would have to say this show was top rate, Ted Turner's facility was too, very friendly staff, great seating, good bar man I like this place, I sure hope PJ plays this venue again.... back to the show, how fitting a REM song for a GA concert, nice touch jam, Rearviewmirror was flawless, Crazy Mary (again) along w/Eddie sharing his wine w/some fellow Ten Clubbers, man Rival rocked live almost as good as Evacuation was in Greensboro, and then homage to Neil Young w/ Fuckin' Up! THESE GUYS ARE THE KINGS OF ROCK, THERE ARE NONE HIGHER! A friend of mine complained about them not rocking enough and becoming to mellow, I'm not sure he must be from that new planet they discovered.....Rival, Fuckin' Up, Animal, Even Flow, Greivence, Evolution, oh yeah that mellow?! i am still so pumped about this tour I'm seriously thinking of catching them again in DC on Sept 4th....... As I have said before, if your reading this review and haven't been to a Binaural tour show get up and GO!! I'll close in saying a big THANK YOU, to Pearl Jam, Ten Club and all the jamily of PJ fans. This tour and this last week will always be a special part of my life........see you guys in 2 years....long live the JAM!!!!!!!!!!
