What a tremendous experience overall!! We drove from Pensacola, FL (after having drove to Tampa and back for that show) and found that there was no line for fan club tickets. Got great seats....8th row center. Much better than the nose bleeds we had in Tampa. The band seemed to be in great spirits. Mike was playing to the crowd with facial expressions and hand gestures. Stone was grooving to the music as usual and Ed was going off!! The sound quality was great.....even better than Tampa but that could have had something to do with the seats.

The set list was great. Just one awesome song after another......Grievance, Last Exit, Given to Fly and Hail Hail......what an opener. Wishlist, Insignificance followed by one of my favorites....Corduroy. An excellent version of Small Town and Nothing as it Seems preceded In Hiding and Daughter. At the end of Daughter, Ed stood and shook his head instead of his normal ad lib of lyrics of other songs. He let the crowd sing Another Brick in the Wall at Tampa. I was expecting some Neil Young but it was still cool to watch Ed ponder what to sing. Even Flow rocked! They slowed things down a notch and did Off He Goes and Better Man. AWESOME! And to totally pump us up before the end of the first set they threw Animal, Once and Rearviewmirror at us.

I needed a break after that and I'm sure they did too. It wasn't long before they returned to GO - Do the Evolution...WOW!! Ed talked about how we were all missing the Democratic Convention and how they missed the Republican one as well. "Tisk Tisk" he said as he smoked a cigarette and took a swig of his wine. He said he had an inclination of what Clinton's farewell address was....."bullshit, bullshit, bullshit, more bullshit, bullshit......" After the arena settled down, he urged everyone to do their part and vote no matter what. He talked about the issues at hand and one of them being education and school. That led into the beginning bass solo of Jeremy. The place went nuts! Ed asked for some audience assistance at the end of the song and those of us who could still manage to sing obliged. Then Ed talked about how they had done some recording there in New Orleans and he talked about Victoria Williams. That led us into Crazy Mary and following that was Black. This was the first time I've seen them do Black live. In four concerts they never did it. Finally, and it couldn't have been better.

Porch led us into the second short break of the evening. The 2nd encore consisted of Last Kiss, Sonic Reducer and Yellow Ledbetter. Sonic Reducer is a great song and it was meant to be done in concert. I think it was during this song that Matt lost the grip on his stick and it flew over his head behind the stage. He never lost the beat but did miss out on a few cracks at the symbols. That was a total adrenaline rush to hear that one live. Mike went off to close the show with Yellow Ledbetter. His guitar solos are unparalleled. Mike is the man. Ed sang in the direction of different sections of the upper levels and seemed to enjoy watching the blond by the rail to his left. At the end of the song Ed sat on the speakers and Matt joked with a crewmember about the stick incident and Stone was admiring the sites while Mike was taking it to new limits with his amazing solo to close the show. Thank you Ten Club for making this an event that me and my fiance will never forget. I can't wait until the next time.
