All right......my PJ hangover has finally subsided enough for me to get this down.

Nashville was the second of five straight shows for me. Memphis, my opening night, was awesome, but personally Nashville's setlist was spectacular. They rolled out so many personal faves: Present Tense, which I was really hoping to hear at some point of this trip; Red Mosquito, another No Code gem; Insignificance, an instant classic; Once, my favorite classic classic; and Leatherman, which, I don't know about you guys, but I think is a GREAT little tune.

Someone in the Memphis fanviews asked if Mike McCready is playing even better than before. I'd have to say the answer is YES! His solos on "Corduroy" and "Porch" were typically spectacular. He just seems in a good place right now, very relaxed and focused on his groove. Stone stepped up with his cool fills on DTE and he had the creeping spider-fingers going on the fadeout to "Daughter."

Some other people probably had a better view of this than me, but one of the highlights was during the first encore when Eddie brought up Andy from (didn't hear), a fan who was hopping around on crutches. Don't know if this was planned or if it really was a spur-of-the-moment thing, but give Andy props: he sang the first verse of 'Smile' pretty well. Sitting here in a Nashville motel I can sing it too, but if I got up there I just know I'd choke. Eddie even offered him some wine (not before slurping some himself) and gave Andy his harmonica.

They closed the regular set with a vivacious 'Rearviewmirror.' There was a cool moment when I looked across the pavilion (Facing the stage, I was on the far left side) and saw the rising, almost-full, orange-red moon hovering just above the right video screen where there was a big image of Jeff gettin' down. Pretty cool moment. For the final encore Eddie seemed to be taking requests. Mankind? "Stone?" EV asked, but Stone was unresponsive. Hunger Strike? With a shrug of his shoulders Ed says "Chris isn't here." Baba? "Played that last time." They finally settled on Yellow Ledbetter which ended on another beautifully-phrased solo by Mike with every once else watching on stage.

(Here's hoping Ed got plenty of water in him afterwards. Like he said, a few degrees hotter you would have thought it was hell, but at least it wasn't Arkansas)

All in all another great night. Moving on soon to meet my better half at Deer Creek and enjoy my Ten Club seats. A big thank you to the Ten Club ahead of time, because I know it will be a memorable night for us. Any chance to hear Breath over the next three shows? Hey, my mom once told me that it never hurts to ask. Peace out, Jamily. Be safe and I'll see you in Indy.....
