Absolutely amazing. This phrase can be used to describe so much of Pearl Jams performance last night. Let me start by saying that Mike McCready has evolved into one of the finest guitarists gracing rock music today. Last night Mr. McCready was on FIYA!!!! I was sitting in the front of the lawn, and I believe that for a brief instant while looking up at the sky I could see Jimi and SRV looking down with big smiles on their faces as one of their prodigal sons ripped the joint up. His playing has truly taken on a life of its own, while still maintaining his link to his influences. The band seemed to be having fun and enjoying themselves which makes the experience just that much better for us. The weather was gorgeous, the crowd was knowledgeable and loud throughout, and the sound was faaaaaantastic!!!!

Interstellar and Corduroy made for a blistering opener. I was moved to tears because I was finally able to see my favorite band again after 2 long (what seems like forever) years. As Wesley Willis would say "the crowd roared like a lion" after corduroy. Grievance and STBC both smoked, although STBC seemed a little more paced than usual. Dissident was a tight, and a wonderful needed break after that powerful opening. Then they burned through Brain of J, Animal, and Given to Fly. Mike was especially on during Given to Fly, and Animal just plain old RAWKED as it always does. NAIS was a special treat, played a little slower, it had such a somber and brooding feel. Jeff sets such a wonderful mood with his fretless playing, and mikes solo was just right....not too much, and fit the song perfectly. OMG Even Flow tore me a new one...that was the greatest performance of Even Flow I have EVER heard. Mike wailed pulling out Jimi, SRV, and some sweet original riffs during an extended jam section. My jaw dropped to the floor.

Pilate was a rare treat, and Jeff did well to keep things together. (I didn't like what I perceived to be a pre recorded echo track singing the "Obeys listens....."part) Lukin made the place explode everyone just went absolutely nuts. During Light Years I felt privileged to be in the lawn, as I just looked up at the stars and moon and enjoyed every second of the music with the infinite sky and space looming overhead. Eddie kicked it classical style before beginning of a nice Better Man which had that incredible "Save It For Later" tag which I had never heard before. I never thought I would ever hear Leatherman live, but I did and it a was wonderful treat for me. Not For You was intense, and Stone really seemed to be into it. Mike really got to me with his solo during Black, I still can't get over how awesome he was last night. Insignificance dropped bombs all over Deer Creek and Go sent the first set and the crowd into submission. Everyone cheered wildly when Mike swung his SG behind his back and just machine gunned the solo.

Throw Your Arms Around Me was very sweet with Ed dedicating it to his brother. The crowd was very respectful and I could hear every word. During DTE Ed seemed to be having a great time, I could see him smiling on the Video monitors overhead. State of Love and Trust was the capper for me, after this I figured everything is a bonus. We received a great bonus and very very special treat with Crazy Mary...pass it A-round, pass it A-round!!!! Ed kinda messed up Elderly Woman which made it sweet and isn't it always a great moment at a PJ show when you get to hear 25,000 people scream HELLOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Last Kiss was fun and I joined some nice country folk in some silly line dancing on the concourse.

Rearviewmirror ended the first encore with great intensity..during the jam Stone played a really neat little riff and the improving was real on (it was the whole show). Matt played so hard during RVM I think he broke a tom or something on his set and the techs scrambled to fix it after. Then I finally got to hear Indifference which is one of my favorite PJ songs. I just soaked it all in, it was magic. I thought that was it but apparently someone had a "Free World" sign so the boys just cranked it up and torched the place with a blistering RITFW. I think its still on fire as we speak =).

An amazing show or as Wesley would say "They whupped the Donkeys Ass!!!" Indeed they did......cant wait to see em in Oct in Wis and Chicago. Peace Love and Pearl Jam =)
