THE SHOW WAS ABSOLUELY INCREDIBLE!!!! During times like this, a band like Brad is just what people need to lift up their spirits!

Let's see, where to begin. They opened with a new song called 'Brothers and Sisters', and from there went right into 'The Day Brings'. Great songs to get the crowd into it. They sang quite a few songs that I didn't know, but I'm sure there were some new ones, as well as Satchel and Stone Gossard tunes. '20th Century' was done very cleverly. It was a 8 minutes plus version that included a guitar solo by the almighty Stone. I think this was the first time I've ever seen them extend the song. Of course, 'Sweet Al George' got the crowd to their feet, moshing ever so slightly. There was one new song they played; I think it's called 'Where the Fun Is' or 'Slippin' Away' or 'Shining'. Not sure which one, but I'll know it when I hear it again. Let me tell you, that is the song to see live. When Brad plays they have a way of just lifting the mood of everyone in the room. Everybody is focusing on the band and the music, thinking about nothing else but good music. That's the wonderful thing about Brad, sure things might not be as good as they can be, but their songs just convince you that everything is going to be all right. It's impossible to listen to them without a smile on your face.

They finished the 1st set with 'Screen', always a crowd pleaser. The first set was great, but the encore is what really gave me my money's worth. Shawn heads onto the stage by himself, and plays a very shiny looking Les Paul. He sits on the chair placed in front of the mic, and starts jamming a blues tune. He plays a few riffs, the crowd is slowly getting into it, then he leans into the mic and sings: "You ever heard the story, of mister faded glory." The crowd goes absolutely nuts, reacting to the one song that for all intense and purposes sums up the old Seattle Scene, of which all of Brad are veterans. Shawn held nothing back, encouraging everyone to belt out the lyrics.

After the incredible 'Crown of Thorns' sing-along, the rest of the band comes up on stage, and Shawn sits behind his piano, and plays the first notes of 'Good News'. The cool thing about Brad is that all the songs blend into each other, which they did seamlessly into 'Secret Girl', which again makes the crowd go nuts. Taking it down a notch, Stone plays the first few chords of 'Nadine', and Shawn takes his place behind the piano again. The highlight of the evening I think was 'Buttercup'. The song just flows with the overall mood of well-being sweeping the crowd. During the refrain, 'It's just a matter of time' Shawn holds his hand to his ear and doesn't take it away until everyone starts singing. Of course, he wasn't disappointed. It was really something else, the song is just so soothing.

After 'Buttercup', Shawn stands up and walks to the center mic, thanks everyone for coming, introduces the entire band, and plays a Satchel song that I don't know the name of. It really was the perfect ending, keeping the general feeling of well-being well instilled in everyone's mind.
