Alex McCormack (grandpoobah@ozemail.com.au): About 300 lucky participants (Triple J radio contest winnners and industry personnel) got the chance to see the amazing Ben Harper live in the intimate venue that is the Independent Theatre in North Sydney. Ben got on stage and did his stuff which was well worth the 4 hour trip in itself, and I didn't expect anything else. But then Ben announced that he had a special guest to help him sing the next song, and he said "please welcome Ed Vedder".....and the crowd went absolutely nuts. I was stunned - it was amazing to have my two favourite performers (minus the rest of Pearl Jam of course) on stage singing my favourite Pearl Jam song. It was simply amazing. Prior to this, they talked about the state of American politics, joked about George Bush (or as they called him Boy George), and after the song, towards the back of the stage, they embraced. It was awesome. A night I would have never forgotten anyway, but one of the most amazing experiences of my life thus far..... See webcast at: virtueoz.com. |
