The night started leisurely with 4 slower numbers (Jeff on stand-up bass!) The show opened with Elderly ("Seattle's a small town"), a great rendition. Followed by a beautiful version of Black. Next was Thumbing My Way, Ed sings this with a lot of intensity. Nothing as it Seems followed. For some reason, I have never been a big fan of this song, but I was completely won over, Mike absolutely killed. Given to Fly, always a favorite, and the crowd was so into it. Save You was next. I cannot say enough about this song and this performance of the song. This is such a rocker! The crowd was going crazy, the band was going crazy. Amazing! Hail Hail, again another amazing rocker with Ed flubbing the lyrics a bit (it's egg rolling thick and heavy, I sang this part already!) Next was Ghost, it was great to see Jeff and Stone singing, this song is even better live than on the album, hard to believe right?

Corduroy and Grievance, great rockers. Green Disease is going to be a great song for this tour. I Am Mine, mellow and pleasing. Ed introduced Boom here with the whole audience giving him a welcome (Booom!), also saying he would be playing on the next couple of songs which meant more Riot Act!!! Love Boat Captain, man is this an amazing song. Beautiful. Next was You Are. My friend Rick and I went absolutely and completely nuts when we heard it. We had been talking about it on our whole trip (long flight from Orlando!) and were so excited to hear it. It sounded so amazing. Not to take away from the music, but the lighting during this song was awesome, deep blue with small white lights that looked like a stars in a night sky. 1/2 full followed, nice and bluesy. The crowd went wild with Evenflow (as did Mike on his solo). Wishlist (no mirrorball!), nice with a new little ending "I wish I was the President, I wouldn't go to war, I'd communicate and negotiate, isn't that what Presidents are for?" Blood, man was it great to hear this amazing rocker, the guys seemed to really enjoy playing it too, Mike especially, who felt to need to completely destroy his guitar, if I haven't mentioned it before, I will now, this was Mike's show. He shined on every single song, he was completely on.

The boys came back on with Gimme some Truth, Ed really seemed to enjoy this one. Then, what to my wondering eyes should appear, but Ed Vedder in George Bush headgear! This was hilarious, he came out with the mask on then, put it on the mic stand and proceeded to sing to it, amazing. Insignificance rocked hard with the crowd going crazy. Down, wow, what can I say about this except Mike owns this song, I'm so glad they played it! Better Man, always amazing, the crowd singing every word, with Ed even singing softer so to better hear the audience. Do the Evolution, a few lyrics issues here, but Ed always calls himself out on it :) Nice solo from Stone! Yellow Leadbetter was the show ender and what an ending ("Keely, you know what to do!" and on come the lights!), Mike was so great and really seemed to be having a great time, as did all the guys.

The show was amazing. Ten Club, thank you so much! For those of you who live in Seattle, you are so lucky, that's a great city you have there!

WOW
From the second they took stage I could tell the band and the fans had been waiting over two years for this show. What a way to start out a show.... Ed ran out and immediately got the crowd into it by repeating "you've got to hide your love away" he did this 4 or 5 times then the crowd started. Just before the first song he said "we ain't hiding anything tonight." The first two songs "small town" and "black" were great, the crowd sang along with both songs it really got us pumped for the rest of the show. I don't think Mike McCready was kidding when he said he was really excited for Sundays show. Mike was all over the stage for "black" and "Nothing as it seems" I would say he was the most fun to watch tonight. I haven't been to many PJ shows but that was my favorite by far. They seemed so full of energy, I am sure they could have played all night if it wasn't for Mondays show. If this show is even close to what we see on the tour next year I am very excited.

I just got back from Seattle! Heres my thoughts on the first show.
It kicked ass :) I was 5th row centre on floor (thanks to the ten club!), and I've never been that close at a venue with a seated floor before. To my surprise they started with Elderly Woman then I think they went into black. A nice mellow start to the evening. I recall hearing blood, which we all went insane for, as I've seen at least a dozen Pearl Jam shows and have never heard them play it. Everyone in front went insane :) It was also good to hear Just Gimme Some Truth, I'm guessing it was the anniversary of Lennon's passing on Sunday?

Bushleaguer was awesome, Ed came out in a George W. Mask.... The whole crowd cracked up. Oh and did I mention Mike McCready? Holy shit, the man was on fire on this night... just ripping through solos on I Am Mine and Nothing as it Seems. Mike was very animated.. even tried to smash a guitar.. but it wouldn't break so he gave it a good heave ho towards backstage... I've never seen a guitar fly so far.

Ed was very animated too! I don't think I've seen him like this in a few years (and just for that we'll let a few lyrical flubs slide :) ). I think he got so excited, that during do the evolution he gave himself whiplash, 'cause he kinda kept grabbing his neck through the end of DTE, and Yellow Ledbetter.

All in all it was a pretty sweet show, it definitely helped having stellar fan club seats and now I'm on my way to write my review for the 2nd show.
