Brian Vanderkruyk (brianvdk@shaw.ca):

This was my second show in a row. This time I was back in row 22 on the floor which still isn't too too bad. Security was a little anal about cameras.. and hunting down anyone who didn't have a disposable with a vengeance., It made for someone useless distractions during the set.. so security people.. let it go :)

Other then that.. It was an awesome show! They opened with Release, which is my favorite opener I think. Then they went straight into a pretty hard rockin set. I remember somewhere in there I got to here my two favorite Riot songs back to back. Cropduster and Green Disease. I also go to here my favorite PJ song ever, "I Got Shit." I've only heard that one once before.

But most of all... BRAIN OF J!!!!! I hadn't heard it since the Yield tour, and its been sorely missed :( Both nights Black sounded awesome with Stone on the Acoustic.. and Mike rockin away on lead.

Once again Ed brought out the George W. mask...This time getting a little more colorful with it.. like sticking it by his crotch.. and moving it up and down.. lol! and pouring wine into it... Being Canadian I guess I feel the same way about him.. so It was pretty cool.

The War Tag on daughter was wicked.... everyone singing along to War.. HUH! What is good for? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! I really liked that daughter tag.

And for the 2nd time in my life I saw PJ play a song after Yellow Ledbetter!! I Don't Believe in Christmas!! I'd seen it on a Showbox set list... but hadn't heard it before... it was awesome.... I couldn't stop singing it all night. Maybe it'll end up on the christmas vinyl (hint, hint).

That's about it. 2 PJ shows in 2 days. not bad... looking forward to the North American tour when it comes around.

I'm from Belgium, but i have a dear friend living in Seattle, and going to both key arena concerts. since I've never seen them live and we vowed to someday go to a PJ concert together, she promised me to take her cell phone with her. It worked out, and I listened to the entire concert (that is, up until 'I Got Shit' when her battery ran out) here in my living room, my ear clutched to the phone, jumping up and down like everyone else in the arena. it was such a special moment, watching the sun come up listening to pearl jam rocking on. of course, I can't comment on how the band behaved on stage (but from what I hear from Alexus it was pretty amazing), but I could feel their energy right through the phone. Black was an unbelievable one, and Thumbing My Way was so beautifully sung... I'll leave the rest to the people who were really there. I just wanted to say it was an amazing and very special first time concert for me ;) and thanks again to my generous friend Alexus for holding the phone up for two hours without complaining of cramps... :))))
