First off, wow, simply amazing, a superb setlist (although a little short) got all the songs I wanted to hear apart from Evolution, Off He Goes, and Alive. And no Love Boat Captain!!!! But I did get some of the best stuff I mean Hail Hail, Corduroy, Given To Fly, Daughter, E -Flow in one night??? Anyway I'm back in NZ now and I'm just wishing I could have gone to more shows or at least stayed for the second night in Brisbane.

This was my first Pearl Jam concert and it was definitely worth it. Here's the set list. Oh and just a note it seems Ed has now changed from his telecaster to an sg, as he used that all night instead.

Set List: Can't Keep, Don't Go, Save You, Hail Hail, Cropduster, Corduroy, I Am Mine, Nothing As It Seems, Given To Fly, Green Disease, Even Flow, Daughter/War, 1/2 Full, Wishlist, Better Man, Black, Blood; 1st encore: Kids Are Alright, Small Town, Bushleaguer, Whipping, RVM; 2nd encore: Crazy Mary

But lets start form the start.
It's 4am my dad gets me up as we hop a plane from New Zealand to Australia (3 hours flight). I am totally excited, I have nothing but PJ all through my cd wallet.

We arrive in Australia, its really really hot. We are a day before the show so we go to Movie World. Lucky for us school is in session so there is no ques, we basically had the place to ourselves. The Lethal Weapon ride by the way is the most insane, the most fast and the most extreme ride of my lifetime. And the Scooby Doo ride rocked out. It was long driving back to Brisbane as we took a look around other places along the coast but it was all good because the station Triple M had Pearl Jam weekend so every 15 minutes they took a caller and played the Pearl Jam song of their choice. Great stuff.

Anyway the next day it was show time, my dad and I went to the beach first but we made the ground in good time with no hassles in parking or anything. I got out the car and ran straight to the merch stand and got a couple of tour shirts and some stickers for my guitar. We entered the stadium and our seats were right up in the grandstand but near the stage on Mikes side. It was far closer than I thought, we had clear views of the stage and were close enough to see detail in the faces of the band. But I had my binoculars too so it was all good. Eventually Johnny Marr and the Healers came out but you know how it is, as good as the opening act may be you just want them to get off for the main act. At 9.15 PJ finally took the stage and a huge crowd roar to Cant Keep.

Next came Go and everyone just jumped up, I wasn't expecting to hear Go so early but it was insane! Then Save You which was rocking; Next Hail Hail I got really excited for, as great song it is it doesn't get played often. The band was just so energetic through this, much better than any of the footage I have from the 2000 tour.

Things then slowed down for Cropduster, my fave song off Riot Act. But picked up again for Corduroy my fave PJ song ever. Everyone was clapping along and it was just great.

Then Ed starts talking and mentions that they are gonna play the first single off the new record and if they fuck it up its not the first time. Well, guess what Ed totally fucks the first line!!!! the whole crowd laughed and Ed looked really embarrassed. The band played the verse riff 3 times before Ed starting the song again lol.

Then Nothing As It Seems, it was cool but it went by very fast, but Given To Fly was next and the crowd just roared and everyone was jumping like mad.

Now Green Disease sounded the best out of the Riot Act stuff live. Very fast. But it didn't get the crowd roar like other songs. Then Mike picked up his sunburst Les Paul and I just knew this was Even Flow. Ed fucked a couple of lyrics in the second verse but no one really noticed, Mike had an awesome solo, during which Eddie grabbed a cigarette and is asking the roadies for a light, eventually he gets one lol. And after the 3 chorus into the last main riff we get the band all doing one jumped very cool.

It was Daughter though when things really picked up, everyone singing along, this is my dads favorite song and he was just loving it, the song led into a tag of War, and it worked very well.

Then we had the little cymbal tapping and I thought holy shit its Red Mosquito (another huge fave of mine) but no it was 1/2 Full. Which isn't bad but I really thought it was Red Mosquito lol. But 1/2 Full was probably the loudest song of the night.

Wishlist was neat, the mirror ball came out and the place looked great but Eddie totally screwed the lyrics. Sill good though. After he said something along the line of paying to see them rehearse for the tour.

Then Better Man a crowd fave and into black where everyone got out their lighters.

But Blood finished the first set, the band going mad on stage and the crowd just jumping their hearts out.

After a few minutes the band came back and Ed talked for a while about the Pete Townshend child porno stuff and said its unfair he has to go through that. And they launched into a full band version of The Kids Are Alright. Then Small Town which was the biggest sing along I just loved screaming the hhhheeeeellllloooooo line.

Then Eddie got dressed up in a fancy top and a Bush mask for Bushleauger and did a funny little dance and it seemed very heavy compared to the album.

Then Whipping which was unexpected but cool, I was glad to hear it. Next RVM which everyone seemed to love. Then the band left the stage again and so did many other people left the stadium (I knew they'd come back)

And they played Crazy Mary! Never have they closed with that before but it totally worked. During the "take a bottle drink it down, pass it around" Ed handed his bottle of wine to the front row and told them to pass it along after each drink. Very cool. Then at the end Ed picked up his guitar and they just jammed for about 5 minutes it was so cool.

Then walking out I asked dad "wow, what did you think of that?" He reply's with "amazing, and that last song, I fucking love it when bands just jam like that."

So I'll leave you with those words of wisdom, "I just fucking love it when bands just jam like that."
