 | I felt like a professional concert-goer, bag packed with camera, autograph pen and CD, photo ID etc..I have never been so organised in my life, but hey, I had 5 years to prepare for tonight!!
I was on the train at 3pm, (how desperate was that?) walked around and picked up my Ten Club tickets on time and got the biggest surprise of the night, I was in section A row A4. Four rows from the front, but the way the seats went I had no one in front of me, so basically it was like front row. Just a little after 7, Dad and I decided to go in and get our seats, I had seen Betchadupa before and wanted to see them again so we thought we would go in early, lucky we did cause Eddie was at the stage playing a few songs. As soon as I heard his voice I ran. Poor Dad was at the door getting our tickets ripped and checked. A lady tried to show me to our seats but I was mesmerised by Eddie who was casually playing 'Dead Man Walking' to a few people who had gathered round him. I couldn't believe it, it seemed just like a dream, but it was real. Before leaving, Eddie tried 'Thumbing My Way' but then decided to play 'You've Got to Hide Your Love Away' instead.
Betchadupa and Johnny Marr were really good, but of course the crowd roared when Pearl Jam got to the stage. Long Road. This was the first of hopefully many for the Sydney shows. Pearl Jam played five more songs straight away before Eddie even spoke a word. It was kinda funny cause Ed said he didn't like Brisbane and was just being polite when he told them they were realy good. Then realising what he was saying tried to say "but how do you know I'm not lying to you when i tell you guys you are really good?!"
Without boring people with mundane detail, I'm basically going to say that the show absolutely rocked, worth waiting five years for. There was a good mix of songs too, alot from Riot Act of course, and a lot of Vitalogy (Not For You, Immortality, Spin The Black Circle etc) and surprisingly only two songs each from Ten and Vs.
If you're not a member of the Ten Club well then become one because you could never get seats as good as I got tonight without the Ten Club (thank you soooooo much Ten Club having good seats really improved the outcome and atmosphere of the whole night) hopefully people who won tickets through Triple M or went with a friend who weren't real big fans before tonight became inspired by a bunch of 30 -somethings who know how to rock! Some of the new and upcoming bands need to take a lesson from Pearl Jam I have never been more entertained at a concert ever before. Pearl Jam put so much energy and bounce into their performance ( I got dizzy watching Mike jump up and down so much!) that many other bands just can't match. The last three songs of the night Black, RVM and indifference absolutely went off, jam-packed with emotion and feeling something only Pearl Jam can pull off!
Thank you guys so much for coming to Sydney!
If it was so good tonight, I can't wait to see what they do on Thursday and Friday nights, whatever it is I'm sure it will absolutely go off!
