Craig (evenflow001@optushome.com.au):
Hey all,
The 2 songs that I was shocked to hear were Off he Goes and Habit, which was probably my highlight for the night. After hearing Habit on many of their Euro 2000 shows, I was hoping to see it live, and it completely blew me away! Great to hear some No Code material. Hopefully In My Tree and Red Mosquito will appear on their sets shortly. Great to hear Once and Blood again also. A bit more Binaural material on tonight's show which was a welcome addition, especially Light Years. Ed kept forgetting the lyrics of Soon Forget but once he got it right it was excellent. They closed the show brilliantly with Yellow Ledbetter, and to finally hear that live was an amazing experience. Lots of people smoking pot around the area I was sitting, and plenty of ushers walking around trying to bust them. Not much Yield on played on tonight's show either, except for Evolution. Once again, another terrific show. I can't wait for tonight's cause I'm on the floor, about 10 rows back, so to be so up close for their final show will be amazing. Thanks PJ, and Ill be seeing you guys again tonight!
Cheers, Sachaa Coper (Sachaa.Coper@freehills.com): My fan review is a little different from the others. I don't really know the band, I haven't followed them from day one, and I didn't even know all the songs they played last night. Not ever a huge Pearl Jam fan, I went to the Sydney concert last night on a ticket my brother couldn't use. I was blown away. Although I've always enjoyed their music, I never had a full appreciation of what this band could do in terms of talent and their ability to move a crowd. This was my first experience of Pearl Jam live, and my first experience of who Pearl Jam really are. Passionate and emotional. The concert was brilliant and Eddie was incredible - he really has an amazing presence and aura about him. The echo, and warble of his voice resonating through the stadium sounded unbelievable, but seemed so effortless. You only had the glance around the crowd to see how much energy and wonderment the band had evoked - from the moment they came on stage. Last night was a bizarre experience for me. I had dental surgery earlier in the day and was in agony, but I knew I couldn't pass up the opportunity to go - my boyfriend and brother are die-hard fans and both overseas. I wouldn't have gotten away with not going, and not having the chance to share it vicariously with them! I'm glad I stuck it out - between the painkillers wearing off, and almost passing out - the music, the night and the whole experience was worth it. The band completely marvelled me and now they have a new fan - thanks to my brother Eddles for the ticket, and my beloved Adam, the biggest fan I know, for introducing me to the wonder and talent that is Pearl Jam. I am so glad you did. |
