Hey all,

Just arrived in the door from Sydney Show 3, and what a way to cap off the Sydney leg of the tour…simply amazing! 2 hours and 15 minutes of pure bliss…it was incredible. The crowd was red hot all night, and they had every reason to be. After seeing Shows 1 and 2, I can tell you that the crowd for tonight’s show was a lot more intense than the previous nights with it being their final show in Sydney.

Where can I start about the setlist…Dissident, Given to Fly, Love Boat Captain, Cropduster, Insignificance…all spectacular. Dissident was a nice surprise...certainly got a good reaction from the crowd. Lukin was played with great energy and I was anticipating Not For You to follow, but it wasn’t to be. Bushleaguer was great in the encore with Ed coming out with the mask and outfit to match. Alive was great to finally hear live, and it was like a huge singalong…great stuff. The Kids Are Alright played by Ed alone was brilliant, and a friend I went with even commented on how well he played it, even though she’s not a big fan. Yellow Ledbetter was the perfect closing, and Mike was once again on fire all evening! The Black solo could have been played for ever and ever, and I don’t think anyone would have left the room or sat down…it was like everyone was in a trance over his playing. Mike was also very friendly with the crowd tonight, giving plenty of waves, jumping around quite a bit, and the crowd loved it.

When leaving the show, I was speaking to my friend and asked what she thought of the show. Her exact comments were…’Unbelievable. Eddie is such a great performer. I stared at him for ages with my jaw dropped, looking at him move around on stage, he’s just terrific to watch’. I couldn’t agree more!

Thank you so much Pearl Jam for another unforgettable experience…4 of the 6 shows down now, I wish the tour was starting over again! See you guys in Adelaide!

Cheers,
Craig

Where do you begin? What to say? Pearl Jam are simply brilliant! There was so much feeling in tonight's show that it even brought a tear to my eye during the very moving thumbing my way. This was my first Pearl Jam concert, and my word I will definitely be seeing them again. My friend (who is not a big fan) thought they were sensational! I think they picked up on the intensity of the crowd to, and that is what lead to them playing so much of their old stuff. As Ed said before Alive "We're gonna try something here." The crowd went absolutely nuts. During the chorus' you had to strain to hear Ed sing because the crowd were so loud. Daughter was superb, and "War" on the end when he got the crowd to help him sing was unreal. RVM before the first encore break really rocked. This song has got to be one of their best live. what can you say about Even Flow? Not much. You had to be there to see it and hear it. Black was obviously a favourite, and everybody got their lighters out, until the ushers came around and tried (unsuccessfully) to get people to put them out. The thing that really impressed me was the overall performance Pearl Jam put on. Ed sung with intense feeling all night, and the band just really gel in a way that very few bands do. There is no doubt they are one of the all time best rock bands, rivaling even the Rolling Stones. After every song they head me feeling like personally thanking them for the pure pleasure I was getting.

Bushleager was a great protest song, and you can see that Ed is very concerned about America, and the impending war. He came out and spoke after the second encore break about how what the American and Australian governments are doing doesn't reflect how the people of the these countries feel, and urged everyone to get out to the peace rallies on Sunday. Then he showed everyone his new surfboard, and told us that if we get out of his way when he is surfing tomorrow, that he will give us backstage passes to the rest of the tour. "We have great parties back there," he said. I must say one thing that really made me angry was the amount of dickheads who left during the second encore break. It was their own downfall but because they missed a long speech by Ed, as well as a solo of The Who's The Kids Are Alright, which was a highlight. Yellow Ledbetter was their final song. I have heard this on many previous bootlegs, but never really thought it as the best finishing song. How wrong I was. This was another Even Flow song, where words cannot describe how good it was. You simply had to be there. To all those who weren't there, I hope you had a good reason, and don't make any excuses next time. It will be the best night of your life, and one you will never forget. I know I won't. PEARL JAM THANKYOU SO MUCH.
