What an amazing night. After waiting for 5 years to see "my boys" again, I was so excited I nearly passed out when they came on stage!!! Starting with the amazing "elderly woman" we all screamed a big Melbourne "HELLO." Judging from previous fanviews, Corduroy seems to be a crowd favourite and last night was absolutely no exception. The roof seemed to lift off the arena when the first few bars of Corduroy were hit out.

Save you is amazing live, one of my favourite songs off the new album, it was played perfectly. So much energy as they all jumped around, scissorkicking. Given to Fly was another crowd favourite. Ed fubbed the lyrics and seemed quite shitty with himself for doing so. But all sounded good in the end! Unfortunately, the people around me didn't really know the new stuff, so Cropduster was not given it's full credit. Actually the song was better live than on the album.

Even Flow absolutely ROCKED! It started off with Ed pulling his shirt over his head, going at it like a madman. Definitely one of the best moments of the night. I am Mine and LBC were perfect. LBC is fast becoming one of my all time favourite PJ songs, and played live with Ed's voice booming though the arena it was just amazing...

Lukin/Not for You went off. Ed singing "Small my table in my hotel room...room 302...come up to my hotel room." I'm sure many (including me) were thinking "YES!". Light Years was amazing, as was Sleight of Hand played in the first encore. Two songs I really didn't expect them to play. As for Daughter, it was a kick back to 97 when the Brick in the Wall tag was sung. Just like 97, the crowd really got into it and the boys seemed to be quite impressed.

I Got Shit was next and I have to say that this was possibly the best version of that song that I have ever heard! The band was so switched on and no fucking up of the lyrics! 1/2 Full definitely seems to be a band fave, but again it went over the heads of most in my section of the crowd who seemed to only know the popular stuff.

Once and Blood got them into it though. Then the encore break which seemed to be longer than the 5 minutes that it really was. It was worth the wait though. Bu$hleaguer with Ed's fave prop, his Pres Bush mask was a hit, especially when he made the mask go down on him! Kinda what our PM does to Bush. At least now Bush is giving a little back!!! A quick comment about John Howard being a "prostitute" not a PM really finished it off!

On to Betterman and the most haunting rendition of this beautiful song. Ed sung the first line and the crowd sung the rest of the first verse. All 17,000 (?) people. Sent shivers down my spine. Followed by Evolution (really rocking with some groovy dance moves from Ed) and Spin the Black Circle (another song I wasn't expecting, but I'm sure glad they played!). Ed spun the black circle by using the bottom of the mike stand which was funny.

The final encore was excellent. Ed's new name for his guitar (Rebecca) was announced and 'she' really did some wonderful things. Thanks to the real Rebecca cos you got Ed to sing "Throw your arms around me." At this stage I think I cried with excitement and the pure listening pleasure... I think he sung it better than Hunters! Oh, can't find a betterman to sing this song!!!!! Hahaha!

On with a truly loud version of Alive with the lights on and the band really playing to the crowd. We all thought that was the last song, so I was surprised when Jeff was handed a new guitar for an amazing version of "fuckin up." From reading previous fanviews, I think this coulda summed up Ed's performance of some songs on other nights where he stuffed up the words. But tonight Ed was really on fire, hitting his head with the tambourine! I kinda lost Mike for a while as he was running around all over the place. I'm sure he even went back stage at one point!

Then it was really time for them to go. As we walked out my friend (a first time PJ concert-goer) turned to me and said that she had never seen another band play like Pearl Jam played. The whole hour-long journey home was filled with "best part" stories and our expectations for tonight's show. Oh please let it be just as good as last nights!!!
