After years upon years of waiting, I finally got to see my first Pearl Jam show tonight, and it was an experience that I will never, ever forget.

Perthies have had a torturous wait the past couple of weeks, listening to all the fantastic reports while the tour has taken in the eastern states, but it all came to a head tonight at the dome. 19,000 people were there to see the guys put on a show that was beyond description. I really didn't know what to expect, and they just completely blew me away... you know when you walk out of some concerts and think that nothing is ever going to top it? that's what tonight was like.

The setlist was brilliant, with a good mix of old and new: Corduroy got the crowd going early, despite the seating everyone was jumping around and just generally having the time of their lives. You Are was so fantastic, judging by other fanviews I knew it was going to be good but live it just truly comes into it's own. Eddie sang it with so much emotion and I was left absolutely awestruck. Too good.

Mike was his usual flamboyant self, so full of energy, and his solo in even flow was incredible, it went on for ages and he just nailed it. Once again, everyone over east had commented on how good this part of the show was, and to finally see it done in front of me was fantastic. McCready is the man, it's as simple as that.

Betterman was it's usual beautiful self, Jeremy was nothing short of spine-tingling, Love Boat Captain was intense and brilliant, Don't Go was full of spark, and Wishlist... Wishlist was just something else entirely. I must have heard 100+ different live bootlegs of that song over the years, and tonight's version completely surpassed them all. The lighting made an already gorgeous song that much more special, and when Eddie sang "I wish I was Australian, at home beneath the sun" the entire dome erupted into applause. I seriously recommend getting the bootleg for this song alone, it was as perfect a live performance as could ever exist.

Eddie talked about the Ningaloo reef and how we could help save it before jumping into Do the Evolution, which seemed to be a crowd fave, it had everyone moving. Stone was really rocking out during this song, and Jeff seemed maybe a little tired but still performed brilliantly. Eddie said "We're going to do a song not on the list" and they pulled out Crazy Mary. My favourite Pearl Jam cover song, I had waited so long for this moment and I couldn't hide the tears. It was everything I'd ever dreamed of, executed perfectly and the memories will stay with me forever.

Everything towards the end is a little hazy now thanks to some good Perth beer, but they pulled out alive during one of the encores and the crowd went nuts, it really is one of those songs that you don't expect to hear, and when the intro starts you just get chills. The absolute highlight of the night though was when Ed took to the stage in the second encore, with Mark Seymour from Hunters and Collectors. I was beside myself, saying "they're going to do Throw Your Arms Around Me!" - and they did. Eddie said he had played the song around the campfire so many times, and he'd just met Mark today, and it was an honour to play it with him. Ed did the first verse, Mark took care of the second and then the audience joined in for the chorus. It was one of those things that you just never in a million years think you'll see, so totally moving and special.

I'm so happy for having experienced what I did tonight, meeting cool new people and developing memories that I'll keep for a lifetime. Can I just say thank you to the Ten Club for doing such a fantastic job, my second row seats were incredible and really made the night. The boys put on such an amazing show and I, like many other Oz jammers, cannot wait to get them back here again. I feel so unbelievably lucky to have had such a high-quality show as my first Pearl Jam experience, and I can't wait for #2 - let's hope they come back to Australia sometime in the not-too-distant future, so we can continue to show them the love, respect and adoration that they have earned by touching our hearts and souls with their incredible music.

Thanks for the memories.
