What a night ...what a feelin

I've got to say that this was one of those nights where you can see the bands are feeding off the energy of the crowd and the crowd in turn is inspired by the bands until both become a force of one.

I arrived a lil late ... thanx to my cohort in crime & copilot, the Silver Surfer, but i suspect he was detained in a diabolical scheme by the fiendish legion of doom....but that's a story for another day ...on to the show

So I missed Ed perform what is my new favorite Beatles tune ... ill get over it

We arrived in our sweet 10th row puppies just in time for THE SLEATER. They were ON and I expected nothing less. With all due respect to the main act, my girls are the best damn band in the land. I've seen some hot shows from these broads so let me tell u ....what the world needs now is more S-K.

Best moment was when all three chix jammed hard together ...all watching each other in perfect synergy & then they go into Dig Me Out to close .....wow......almost reminded me of some legendary shows back in NYC (Irving Plaza).....Carrie is my number one girl guitarist ...all-time. Janet and Corin, once again, I am in shock and awe at how good they were live.

Then the boyz come out ....It was nice to hear Long Road after my trip all the way from Miami. McCready looked supercool in his Ramones T and the five looked ready to rock.

HILITES: Untitled was stretched into something pretty meaningful ..... I think Ed began by sayin "I'm lost." Before a powerful version of Alive, Ed dedicated the song to a friend and cancer survivor Nick who once had a shiny dome, but now two years later has a fro. Happy ending...good to hear.

Now for THE MOMENT: Ed pointed to a group of people who were holding the American flag during 1st encore and said this next one is for you.....I Am A Patriot....real slow and real sweeeeeet. Then he took the mic and pedestal to give us his peace of mind about current affairs ...which I am so proud of him for...takes guts. Ed reminded everyone what makes our country great ....our freedom and when this message gets obscured by patriotic rhetoric or blind faith then we all lose. He went on to say how he supports our boys over there, but finds it funny how a government can pay these soldiers of love so little while giving those who are more fortunate and more educated tax breaks that are criminal...The man has got a point. He emphasized that we have got to stand for something more as a country than Pizza Huts and Wal-Marts in Germany. Edward then smiled and said "I do love our president." & launched into Betterman with a cool new tag at the end. I did notice a tiny USA flag to the left of McCready on the speakers.

The rare b-side Down was perfectly played next ...Glorified G ...god its been ages since I heard that one and then into a killer Do The Evolution baby!!!

They broke thru the looking glass with Daughter as the crowd and band reached a synergy in the song with hand clappin and singin and Ed tagged a beautiful mellow ...It's alright Its Ok .....aaaah I could almost see the Dead Moon.

THEN ....you give me Baba O' Riley ....people ...we reached Nirvana.

See U guys after I thumb my way (no not really) into Tampa..... or fly

What an incredible show! It was easily the best WPB show I have ever seen. The crowd's energy was ballistic and that seemed to fuel the band's energy and, the result was a fantastic show. Ed came out before Sleater-Kinney and provided the few listeners in their seats with a beautiful rendition of You've Got to Hide Your Love Away. Sleater-Kinney came out afterwards and played a great, energetic set. Long Road, one of my favorite PJ songs opened the night on the right note. After that, the guys just played their hearts out. None of the guys seemed to miss a note, and even Ed seemed to hit all of the lyrics and most of the notes. The band was tight, yet fluid, everything seemed to gel. The setlist was awesome, with standouts like Glorified G (hell yeah), 1/2 Full, You Are, Cropduster, Down and Baba. I wasn't expecting such a great show. If you buy the boot, you'll probably hear a loud crowd, because everyone from the back of the lawn to the first row was going nuts all night long. All in all, this was PJ's best WPB show (so far).
