April 15, 2003 - Alltel Pavilion Walnut Creek; Raleigh, North Carolina
Valerie Tower: This was my 11th Pearl Jam concert and thanks to the fan club, my very first front row seats. PJ was on fire tonight and played one of the highest energy sets I've heard in a while. The crowd was very loud from the beginning and I'm sure they fed off of that. Eddie appeared before Sleater Kinney and sang "You've got to hide your love away." A great gift to the fans who got their early. SK kicked it. PJ opened with Release and it was beautiful. They went right into Even Flow, then Save U and the crowd went wild. Help Help, Given 2 Fly and I am Mine followed. The whole band was on – Mike did everything he could to get the attention of the camera and the crowd including showing off his feet with socks only. Eddie made a comment later in the show that they hired a new fashion consultant and pointing to Mike, said this was the result. Mike then had his white socks on with black sandals that were taped with electrical tape. Quite amusing. Lukin was incredible; Not 4 U was amazing and then they went into Corduroy. Eddie mentioned they had done a few songs with Neil Young a while back and played I Got Shit. You Are, Elderly Woman, Insignificance and Alive followed. They practically brought down the house with Porch and finished the set with Blood—which made the fans go absolutely nuts. Eddie was jumping around the stage all night and at one point fell over the speakers and landed flat on his back. He made a great comeback though. The first encore consisted of Gimme Some Truth, LBC, Betterman/Save it for Later, Glorified G (which sounded amazing) and DTE. They finished the 2nd encore with Sleater Kinney playing Fortunate Son and Rockin in the Free World. THANK YOU Pearl Jam for an amazing show and for treating the fan club members so well. I had waited for this night and those great seats for such a long time and went in with very high expectations. They exceeded all of my hopes and I will treasure this night for the rest of my life. Tomorrow is Charlotte—can't even imagine how they'll top tonight. J Valerie Tower, Raleigh NC jojo e:
Hello from Mayberry (mt. airy, nc)
The show was great, the only thing bad about it was when they finished the show. I wish they would have played till the sun came up. I've been to several shows and this one was the best in my mind. The place was full and everyone was singing so loud with Eddie. Well going to run and place my order for this show. Once again the show was great. Ryan Gordon: What a beautiful night for a show in Raleigh, NC.....Sunny day, 75 degrees. We used our ten club confirmation letter to get to the free VIP club parking and hung out and brushed up on our favorite songs and discussed what we wanted the nights set to be. We were so close to the stadium we got to enjoy a few songs during The Jams sound check. Nice!! Kind of like a prequel to the show!! Well, this is my third time seeing Pearl Jam at Walnut Creek and I was pretty excited to say the least since all previous shows there had been top notch. We got inside in time to see most of Sleater-Kinney and they were great. Those are some rocking ladies; I definitely need to get a hold of some of their stuff!! On to the main event the Jam started out with Release!! Wow they started the show in Atlanta back in 2000 with this and it is one of my favorite shows of all time. Then just as we began to get into things they blew the damn roof off the place with Even Flow, this classic is better every time I hear it and I think the band is sounding as tight as ever. I was jumping as high as I could for Even Flow and then came then came Save You and I think Given to fly...man I love these guys!! The show was a great set list including the raw and rocking song B-L-O-O-D wow!! This was one of the best sets I've seen and I was especially happy when they played Rockin' in the Free World...Damn I love that Neil Classic....OH I almost forgot "I Got ID" hell yeah haven't heard that in a while and elderly woman nice, thanks again Pearl Jam. My bro and I are heading to Nashville and Atlanta this weekend, can't wait.....if you haven't been to a Jam show they are the best live band in the world, well really the best band period, but they are truly Gods of Rock in the live show!!! To the band if you happen to read this will you please play RATS!!!! Soon, man I would love to hear this song live....Thank You for giving me another set of great memories and another great show....See you guys in Nashville Friday!!!!!! |
