Jim: Let me just start off by saying that this was my first EVER Pearl Jam concert. And boy was it a good one. I think that only two sentences can really sum up this concert:
The Best Concert I have ever seen. But maybe there more can be said. Sparta started out the evening great. I really enjoyed their stuff. I think I am definitely going to pick up their cd after seeing that. When the lights went down for Pearl Jam, I swear to you that everyone in the entire place just stood up and the same time. The guys started out the evening with Do The Evolution, which I was not expecting at all. So it was a great surprise. And right from the beginning I could tell that it was going to be a rockin good night. Then they went into a trio of 3 rockin songs, Corduroy, Save You, and Deep. All three were great. I especially enjoyed seeing Deep. Many people including myself were hoping to see them play Deep at this concert. Dissident got a big fan reaction, and the crowd was singing big time on this one. But I didn't really hear the full force of the crowd until Small Town started. Man was that loud! Everyone was jumping up and down for Even Flow. As I watched Mike going crazy during the solo I could only think about how good of a guitar player he is. Amazing! Then right into Jeremy which I wasn't expecting. The crowd chanted along with Ed towards the end of the song, which was cool. Thumbing my way was really good, just seeing the single spot light on Ed was neat. You Are was next and it was good, this song really is amazing live. Then into I am mine, which got a good crowd reaction as expected. I was not expecting Habit at all. As I told my friends who came with me, watch Mike he likes to go crazy on this song, which of course he did as well as everyone else. Over the past few days I had been listening to Habit in hopes that they would play it, and it happened. Untitled and MFC were great. It was great seeing MFC live, everyone was jumping up and down. Given to Fly was great, I was surprised at all the people jumping up and down during this song. Nothingman was another song that got the crowd singing big time. Blood was in three words, off the hook. Porch was great, watching as they extended the song a good few minutes and then bringing it back to finish the song was really cool. The guitar playing on this song was of course amazing. When they came back out after the first encore break and started to play I had no idea what the song was. Now I know that it was Driven to Tears by the Police. Watching and hearing the song was amazing but when I got back and realized that it was a Police cover I was even more shocked. Of course as expected everyone knew Better Man and it got a big fan reaction. I admit that I wasn't really a big fan of Crazy Mary until I heard it on this tour, but I am now. Boom and Mike's Solos were crazy. I especially liked seeing Boom really get into. As soon as Ed said that it was Class Time I figured that meant that Know Your Rights was coming up. And when they started to play it I proceed to go crazy. Then right into Fortunate Son, which got the crowd even more excited than before. Blue Red and Grey was really good. I just love the lyrics to that song. Before Ed started I saw Matt just come out from the behind the stage and sit down on a box that was behind some of the amps, and just watch Ed. Which I thought was cool, they didn't stay back stage and say he doesn't need us out there he is doing a song by himself. No they still come out there to watch Ed to his stuff. Black and Alive were of course amazing. Ed's singing on Black, not to mention Mike's solos on both songs were just spectacular. When they started Baba and the lights went up I just saw every single person in the arena go crazy. It was just a great way to end the show. It almost looked like they were going to do another one after Baba because Mike started to change guitars. But it didn't happen, oh well. This was the first concert that I have actually been able to hear the crowd over the band at some points. Everyone was singing so loud, and just having a blast. Of course I was able to see this because I was in Section C11. With seats like that it is obvious that I am not in the 10c. But the seats were good and I was able to see everything very well. The atmosphere was just great there, everyone was in a good mode. So I had an amazing time. I don't know how I am going to be able to survive having to wait 2 months for my next two at Chicago and East Troy. Those should be good as well. And as I continue to drink water and juice to help out my throat heal from screaming so loud last night I think back to all the memories of the concert that I will never forget. Thanks to PJ and all the fellow fans that I met out there. You guys rule. Jim (aka riotman7 aka metman37) Matt Zussman: "Alright, Lets go!!!!" Wow from the opening line to the final wave good-bye, this show was 10 out of 10. The energy that I felt from the stage and the crowd was unreal. The Ten Club came up huge with great seats for me and my buddy right in front of Stone. Opened with Do the Evolution which was unexpected and got the crowd into it in a hurry. I love the new album but didn't realize how amazing these songs would sound live!! Save You was intense, thumbing my way.....amazing, You Are...one of the best live songs I've ever heard. It's like they've been playing these songs their whole life. PJ and the crowd exploded with Given to Fly. The encores, Driven to Tears and Blue Red Grey were a huge treat. Know Your Rights was filled with emotion. Eddie was "lecturing" us good and it was the first lecture that I have ever actually enjoyed!! He was very intense in reading us our rights!!! All in all the show was amazing. The energy of the band was awesome as Eddie was standing on speakers and Mike was running around the stage while playing. Matt Cameron was on and sounded amazing in Porch!! Boom added a ton to the show and made everything sound that much better. Untitled included "23 mins or so" for the obvious Chicago god--MJ. Early on Ed said something like "I feel like a lion in a cage...Any christians want to get eaten"Pretty nuts!! There were many times where he was so intense and into what he was doing that he lost his breath and would usually let the crowd yell out the words....very cool!! In the encore, some rude guy yelled out "Ledbetter" as Eddie was ready to do a solo and Eddie responded "Why don't you hold on and shut the F up...we were going to play that but now were aren't because that's the way we are "That got the crowd going!! Great show...well worth the drive....Can't wait to see them at Alpine Valley 6/21!!!!!!!!!
Matt Zussman Belinda: Wow...... This Elderly woman in a small town was Once again blown away from yet another outstanding show. This was my 4th time seeing them. My Daughter and I drove over with MFC along side us. Got there and picked up our tickets which were 2nd row on Stone's side. Thank You Ten Club & P J for all the hard work you've done on this tour and all the past. Eddie was asking who had class tomorrow which my daughter had to take PSAE tests today. The night was simply amazing. I just can't get enough music from them. Scream until my voice is raw and still try to yell for more more more....... Thank you again! Keep on Rock'n in the free world!
