Corey Schwen and Sarah Huffman:

Wow! What a weekend! We started the weekend off by seeing PJ in Cleveland, traveled a few miles to see them in Pittsburgh the next night, and then spent all day Sunday trying to re-coop from that AMAZING experience!

We will try not to spend too much time talking about the Cleveland show because all of the other fan views have covered almost everything we were going to say, but we will give a few comments on that show! First off, the band was ON FIRE that night - we have never seen that much energy coming from one band. Period. The one song that really caught Corey's attention though was Crazy Mary. He really had a hard time keeping the tears in just because this song hits him personally. We will not bore you with the details and the long story, but we will say this: Crazy Mary is the one song that made Corey a PJ fanatic years ago when he heard it for the first time. In a way, this was the song that made Corey fall in love with PJ's music, and to hear it live was just amazing! And as all the other fan views have mentioned, BOOM was going nuts on that song! Way to go Boom - definitely a plus to have you in the band!!! There was one point during the concert where Ed fell/tripped off of the stage. We saw the security guards run over to where he landed but we could not see Ed. Our hearts stopped beating for a few minutes because we thought he was seriously hurt, but eventually Ed got up, came back to the stage, and continued to shine! And we cannot find the words to describe how awesome the band was during Sonic Reducer and RITFW - an awesome ending to a GREAT night.

Then comes Pittsburgh. Again, wow! They opened this show with Elderly Woman, which we thought was an awesome way to start the show. Following that they ripped into some faster songs - Hail Hail, Save You, Corduroy, Insignificance, and Crop Duster. Later in the show they played BLOOD! Wow! We have a whole new appreciation for the song Blood after seeing that one live! If you have never seen the band perform that song, it is definitely one to anticipate. All of the lights on the stage were red to add to the atmosphere and go along with the song. After Blood Ed said something like "we usually play that song at the end of a set because it's hard to sing much of anything after that" and hinted like he was going to end the concert then. Everyone started booing so he then pointed to his throat and said his throat is made of steel. The crowd started cheering again. The next song that they played was Down!!!! Before they started playing that song Ed made a comment about how this song should have been included as a track on the Riot Act album but somehow ended up being a B-side. This is funny because we have been saying the EXACT same thing ever since we heard Down for the first time - how did that song get cut from the album because it could be a single all on its own? Either way, we love that song so thank you Mike for writing that one! Better Man was enough to send shivers down your spine - the entire Pittsburgh crowd was singing the first verse -- Ed just smiled and let us do the singing. We get goose bumps when we think about it now. Following Better Man the band played a very enthusiastic Go and then they took their first break.

The first encore started off with Last Kiss, but the band all turned around and faced the fans behind them - the band did not want to be "discriminatory people." Very nice! They followed that with Breakerfall, Once, Alive, and Footsteps. Footsteps was amazing, and the crowd was really singing this one loud! They then closed the first encore with Rearview Mirror which has always been a great song to see live!

The second encore started off with an Ed solo of Hide Your Love Away. This song was the one that made Sarah cry. Sarah grew up as a Beatles fan and that has always been her favorite Beatles song - to hear her favorite band perform a cover of that song live was too much for her to handle! Following the Beatles cover came Know Your Rights. Ed put a LOT of energy into this song! Wow. Just the look in his eyes alone was enough energy to light up the entire house! Following that came DTE and Porch which are always great songs to see live. And then came the grand finale - Yellow Ledbetter. This is always an awesome song to end on. Mike really shows his true talent on this song with some great solos. Thank you Pearl Jam and thank you Ten Club for the great memories we now have!!!
