Ralph (flyinwhole313):

Well, of the three shows I have seen this tour, this show is the topper so far. They came on stage around 9:05 and played through until 12:25! HOLY CRAP! Ed came out commenting that if we stay, they'll stay, and talk about FANtastic! Ed was talking, and talking, and talking and making the show all personal to us, Not like they couldn't wait to get the fuck out of there, and what I was personally happy with, was that EV wasnt "attacking" Bush, but making more intelligent references to who TRULY has the power. "the power of ALL OF US is a force to be reckoned with"

Now to the songs, we got the normals (Release, Elderly Woman, Even Flow, Jeremy, Black, Better Man/Save It For Later, Animal and Alive) but for me, a few long-time-no-hears(Satan's Bed- which, was the best fuck up ever on stage! Leaving Here, Mankind, Nothingman, and MFC), and a never-heard...(Gimme Some Truth!) The whole show was amazing from the start to the end of the third encore, just a super party...well, sort of, they did not serve beer in there...OUCH!!!!!!!!!!

The songs that made the show were obviously "Fortunate Son," "Crazy Mary"-(with a nice Mike-Boom jam session for about 3 or 4 minutes, sweet) Hide Your Love away, all acoustic, EV doing the Han Solo set with "Gimme Some Truth", amazing, "Daughter" with a "Highway to Hell" chant-tag, as well as a "hell no, we wont go" chant-tag, AND "Another Brick in the Wall," Mankind is always great, GO STONE!!! The Improvs were awesome, Ed- work the 2nd improv into a song, it was great. Always a treat to get "Last Exit", and "Leaving Here" and "Evolution"!!!!!!!!!,and "Grievance". B-sides- "Breath" was great, We got "Down", but I am wondering why they are not playing "Undone," or "Other Side". Down is awesome, but Undone is just...well, yeah whatever. Can't complain about a damn thing today, the Penn State show was crazy. And the last song to give credit to-"Rockin in the Free World." It is a norm, but THIS time was a little different, I havent seen so many people jumping up and down like that since Tibetan Freedom Concert in '98. Overall, just a great time, Thanks PJ, see ya in July.

Craig (pittburgh):

I really don't know where to start or what to highlight; each time I see Pearl Jam, I swear that it was the greatest concert ever, and wonder how they continue to amaze me each time...but, I really don't see how anything could top or come even remotely close to what happened at state college...it was so amazing, close to three and a half hours of music, and what a treat to hear rarities like Breath, Down, and my favorite live song, Lukin. Our evening started off great, as we had to be moved from our section behind the stage at the top, to the fourth row, beside the stage, on Stones side (I waited until the last minute to go, so I didn't have my fan club seats)...then we were treated to a great opening act - Sparta- if you didn't see them on tour, pick up the album, its fantastic (thank you Pearl Jam for opening me up to this one of a kind band). Then PJ started with Release. Yada yada yada and ended with Yellow Ledbetter (I am sure others will point out the main highlights, and to be honest with you, I was so mesmerized, that I really cant remember anything). Uou must buy the bootleg, though I doubt it will do justice to the actual performance........Mike, Stone, Ed, Jeff, Matt, and Boom (who is just awesome) thank you so much for a great night.
How is Mike not considered the greatest guitar player of our time?

thanks again,
Craig

Today, I consider myself the luckiest man, on the face of the earth....My first Pearl Jam show ever could have possibly been the greatest concert they've ever played. Three and a half hours after opening with "Release," the Bryce Jordan Center stood in awe as Eddie tipped his bottle over and fulfilled the ultimate promise, to play until the bottle's emptiness (longest Pearl Jam show ever).

Pearl Jam rocked house in front of a Penn State crowd that appreciated every "Breath" of Eddie and Stone's voice. Mike's solos throughout the night were inspirational. Every note was hit until Eddie tried to remember some lyrics to "Satan's Bed" and couldn't...it was amusing but honestly there could have been no words at all and the song would have been perfect. My buddy Mike "money" has been to over 15 shows said that this was the one, and now he could die a happy man. I feel very "Fortunate" to have been able to see the band of my generation at the peak of their career.
