Nathan Green:

Wow, last night the Adam's Center was the place to be, as Pearl Jam played an amazing 31 song 3 hour long show, in top form I might add.

First off, I would like to thank the ten club for getting me so close to the most intimate show I have ever been too. It all started off with Idlewild, who played a great set with lots of energy. When Pearl Jam came out they played an outstanding version of Can't Keep, which was followed by a lengthy hello from the band in Jeff's hometown. What followed was one of the most energetic, simply amazing sets. They ripped through Last Exit, Evolution, Save You, and Ghost, which sounds amazing live. Then they went through Insignificance and Cropduster, followed by Ed welcoming back a member of their crew who just returned from the reserve, and Even Flow with yet another awesome Mike McCready solo. Then came Grievance, followed by Wishlist with an extended jam at the end with Ed singing about wishing he could be 21 and in school again. Then came a barrage of Vitalogy songs with Not for You, Whipping which is always a blast to hear live, and Corduroy. Then the band kind of had a little huddle and then came Brain of J followed by a super intimate version of Black and Better Man. Then Ed counted off Porch, with another amazing extended jam slash Mike McCready and Stone Gossard double solo! That concluded the main set, and the crowd kept getting louder and louder until the band came out for the first of three encores.

Before they started into Small Town, Ed asked if there was anyone from Big Sandy, Jeff's hometown an hour North from my house, in the crowd. Then I saw Stone receiving a different acoustic and I knew that Daughter was coming next. There was no tag on Daughter this time around. Then came Crazy Mary, with a super cool organ solo by Boom. Then Ed pointed out to the two kids two rows up from me that had a huge I Got Shit sign showing for the whole show and there came I Got Shit, followed by the cool Mike song Down. Then we got a treat as they played Glorified G, a song that has just been surfacing on the first leg of the tour. Then came All or None, which Ed announced hadn't felt right at other shows, but it was super amazing tonight. Then the band finished off the first encore with an energetic version of Blood.

When they came out for the second encore, the band turned around to play to the fans that were sitting behind the stage, with Ed commenting that they had the best seats in the house. Then the band addressed the issue of skateboarding in Missoula and followed with a cover of the Clash song Know Your Rights. Then to finish off the second encore with another great McCready solo with Alive. The crowd went crazy when they came out for their third encore, which began with Ed doing I Won't Back Down solo, which I am not sure if he has done that before, followed by a cover of Fortunate Son, and to finish off the most amazing concert ever, a heartfelt version of Yellow Ledbetter. Well, I must say the band was in top notch shape tonight and as I am listening to the bootleg now, I am reminded of how much fun the band and the whole crowd had last night. Thanks again to the band and we hope to see you back in Missoula soon. Take care and we will see you next time.

Matt:

Well, this is show number one on my summer Pearl Jam tour, and what a way to start it off. Set List highlights for me were Brain of J and Whipping, which both kicked the band into another gear. Wishlist had an extended jam with improved lyrics from Ed. Porch ended the set in staggering fashion, with an extremely extended jam, Mike and Stone both taking solos.

During the 1st encore, a sweet run of I Got Shit, Down, and Glorified G put this show to the next level. It was great hearing these somewhat rare songs all in a row. All or None was subtle, yet powerful...a great live song. Blood then proceeded to kick everyone's ass.

The crowd didn't seem as into Know Your Rights as I thought a liberal, hippie, anti-government town would be, but I thought it rocked. Alive was powerful as usual, Mike totally taking over for the solo.

This is where the night begins to suck. My cousin wanted to go, and since he was my ride, I had to go too. I knew they weren't done because they hadn't turned on the house lights yet, but oh well. Only 13 more shows for me on the tour!! Catch ya'll in San Fran!!

Matt

Nick Ferrington:

7,000 people in attendance and not an empty seat in the house. This was my first Pearl Jam show, and I was blown away. Its amazing how intimate their sound is when they play. I mean, I've seen tons of concerts, and one thing that makes a show great is lighting, effects, and all of that. Having recently gotten into PJ, one thing I noticed about their show is that the way they played made the show better than any effects could have. It was a very mesmerizing experience, and I guarantee I will see them again.
