WOW!!! HOLY SH*T!!! That was all I could say all day today and last night. I'll start from the beginning. Woke up around 6:30 and I made it to the venue around 8:30-8:45ish. Met some really cool Ten Clubbers and thank god for that list! Anyways, around 3:45 the Ten Club people come out with the tickets, I got my tix and they were pretty damn good considering what 10C number I had, so, thanks once again to the guys and gals at the 10C. I chilled in the parking lot, met some people, heard Idlewild soundcheck, then Pearl Jam started their soundcheck.

I cant remember the exact order which the songs were played, but here they are, I think this is all of them...In Hiding, Of The Girl, Dissident, Oceans, and part of Soon Forget without lyrics. After waiting in the merchandise line for a while, I got to my seat, almost dead center in the loge about 5 rows up, I was VERY pleased with my seat, anyways, enough of this stuff, lets get to the show, it was my first show, after missing 2 in 2000 and 3 this year, I finally made it. Idlewild kicked some ass, and then the lights went down and we all saw the guys come out. Of The Girl was the first song played, and let me tell you, it was great to hear it live, it kicked ass, I could tell that it was gonna be a really good night, especially when they broke into LAST EXIT! I was hoping all day for that song and I got it! Save You and Corduroy really got the crowd going, really REALLY going. Love Boat Captain sounded great, except I was sorta surprised not many people knew the lyrics, it was sorta obvious when Ed told the crowd to sing it towards the end and not many people did. G2F, and Evenflow rocked the fuckin shoes off of everyone, during Evenflow, Ed changed one of the lyrics too something about the FCC fucking up, I can't remember what he said exactly, I'll remember once I get the boot.

The guys then played Gimme Some Truth which sounded fuckin awesome with all of them playing instead of just Ed (don't get me wrong, Ed's solo version kicks ass, but this just rocked). I Am Mine was good, then a favorite of everyone's, Jeremy, got the place screamin really loud. Wishlist was good, with the band improving towards the end for an extended version, then, finally, IMMORTALITY!! That got everyone pumped and ready for the next song, WHIPPING! (Another one of my favorites). They rocked through Deep, then slowed it down for TMW and Black, which of course everyone knew. Then I heard Ed picking the A-note on the 6th string, and I knew it was RVM, I almost shit my pants. The band left and I was in shock, A) because of the show so far, B) because the first set went by quick as hell! They came back and went through You Are (kicked ass live) and Daughter, at the end of Daughter, Ed did a "Bow-wow-wow yippie-yo-yippie ya" thing in a really deep voice.

Alive was next, of course, it was a fan favorite. Then Ed said "All right, lets keep this thing going" then Blood fuckin rocked the place. I'm pretty sure there were 3 encores and not 2 like the synergy site says, maybe I'm wrong, but i thought that before blood the band went off stage, i could be wrong, probably am, but i thought their were 3. Anyway, Patriot kicked ass, no one really knew the lyrics that well, maybe I'll be able to hear myself on the boot screaming "sure ain't no republican." Down, kicked ass, what else can you say about this song, it rocks, Crazy Mary, wow, Boom, wow, Boom, wow, Boom, wow, Mike and Boom soloing next to each other was unbelievable. Ed said thanks and told Keeley(sp?) to hit the lights, Baba was amazing, the whole place was going wild singing the whole time and jumping around, unbelievable, then, to close the show, Yellow Ledbetter, I don't think I have to say anything, everyone knows how much YL rocks.

Ed said a lot of stuff during the show, cant really remember when (listen to the bootleg) but heres an overview. In the beginning he said "we got a lot of family here in southern California, friends, family, thanks to all of the above." In Wishlist he said something like he wishes he was the wave off of our coast. He said something about how last time they played there, there was a bonfire on the lawn and people were throwing each other in the fire, and he said, its quite a relief those days are over. Later, or maybe earlier, he said, "I don't know if Matt remembers, but the first time we met, was at this venue, Soundgarden (loud cheer) was playing, and i was right about there (pointed to the left side about 30 yards back) so the moral of this story is it took 10 years to get 30 yards, so if your moving a little, that's good. He kept thanking the people in the back (somewhat me :) ) He said that they know they could have had the front row seats but they knew it was easier to smoke pot and get away with it in the back. loud cheer. Before Patriot, he talked about curfews and said they were going to pay the fine, big cheer, he talked about how people in Vancouver were complaining how t-shirt prices were 35 bucks, then he said, but that's 35 canadian, what is that, like 12 dollars, lots of laughs, and I'm obviously not saying it word for word. After Patriot, he said, ahhh, good 2 grand spent. I paraphrased all of that, so, listen to the boot!!! Thanks Mike, Ed, Jeff, Stone, and Matt!

Matt:

I never thought these fanviews were real, but last night I had an experience that changed my mind. Of The Girl was a brilliant opener, an underrated song to be sure. Then it began to build momentum. Gimme Some Truth is always a special treat. Whipping was a nice surprise. Deep was really tight and the boys were definitely in the groove. First encore began with You Are, which sounds amazing live and ended with BLOOD!! Surprising, because it seemed that Ed was kind of struggling with his voice. The band was extremely gracious to play after curfew after an amazing Baba O'Riley, Stone, Mike, Ed and Matt all started to leave the stage while Mike put on his guitar!! Prompting the band to finish with yellow ledbetter. Thank you Mike for being sooooo entertaining and thak you 10c for the great seats...again!
