PulpFiction23: I am 13 years old and this was my first Pearl Jam concert. Let me tell you that I was amazed. I have only been a PJ fan for about a year and they have become one of my favorite bands. Last night they had an unbelievable set list. When they started the night off with Release I knew I was in for a good show. When they got into Animal the whole crowd erupted. Gods' Dice was cool as was Do the Evolution and Insignificance. Personally Love Boat Captain is not one of my favorites but it's still a pretty decent song. After that they played the one song I hoped they would play and that is I Got Shit. The crowd went crazy for that. I was loving it too. Low Light and Rival were awesome performances. Then they had the usual combination of Lukin and Not For You which not to mention Not For You was one of the best performances I have ever seen at any concert. Daughter got the crowd going and then they played a nice version of You Are. In Hiding and I'm a Patriot were really fantastic and everyone was singing. But then came Once. This song, fellow PJ fans, is one of my absolute favorite PJ songs. It was really crazy. Then they closed out the set list with Rearviewmirror which was one of the best of the night. When they left the stage I told my Dad that they usually do two encores and they did. They started the first encore with Driven to Tears which was very good. They then went into a fan favorite which was Corduroy. Then they played Soldier of Love and Crazy Mary which were also very good but didn't even come close to comparing to what song was ahead. That song was Alive. When they played that opening guitar riff I felt my body open up and begin to shake. I was getting chills. Alive is my absolute favorite song of all time. I had my doubts that they would play it but once again PJ did not disappoint. The crowd was belting out all the lyrics as Ed let the crowd sing at one point he said, "You sing you do it better than me." That really got the crowd moving. Then the end guitar solo was just so surreal it was really unbelievable. After that song they got off the stage for a moment and came back and dedicated the next song to Pete Townshend who Ed said was innocent. It was a humorous moment and then they started playing Baba O'Riley. This song really got the crowd going. Even my father, who isn't an avid PJ fan, was getting into it mostly because it was a song by the Who but that's OK. Then they closed the night with Yellow Ledbetter which was a deep and touching performance. All in all this was most likely the best concert I have ever been to. It was touching, funny, and a lot of fun. I'm glad to see PJ is still around after all these years and I hope they will continue for many more years to come. I just want to thank Ed, Mike, Stone, Jeff, Matt, and the Buzzcocks for a great performance. It was definitely the best concert I have ever been to and was worth the money. Once again thank you for a great performance and I hope to see you again. Wma43241: Eddie wasn't kidding when he said no songs would be repeated. They came out firing with Release, Animal, God's Dice, and an early appearance by DTE and Insignificance. At this point I was unsure of what was next and I got to hear some songs for the first time and some that have rarely been played this tour: Eddie said this hasn't been played in awhile and its a Jeff Ament song and with a copy of Yield in his hand Pearl Jam played an unbelievable version of LOWLIGHT....followed by Rival and of course Patriot, another I have never seen live. The encore was great with other songs new to my live veiwing .... Driven to Tears and Soldier of Love and a great sing along version of Alive. The night was closed with Baba O and Yellow Ledbetter. What a great act and a great show. Thank you guys .... can't wait for the Camden shows. |
